What about May’s deliberate in the 1st. Absolute rubbish that hasn’t been paid all season.

Worst deliberate call of all time. That was genuinely strange.

dangerfield was cramping, badly, from about the 7 min mark of the last quarter

clayton has already said in the post-match interview that when max was lining up he was asking him how his calf was feeling

puddy tatts are still a threat but if they lose to port they will be up against it as all those old legs clearly need a rest

Yrs I was a doubter and did not watch 3rd quarter. Turned on at start of last just content with fighting back and to not get thrashed...........we bloody won !!!  lots of jumping around the lounge room   So happy for max to kick that one    geelong out in straight sets I hope

What a great night, one we won’t forget for the rest of our lives. So rapped to do that to the Cats. Watching Billy Brownless this morning still stunned at the result is just another pleasure.

Wondering if we’ll get an apology from the AFL for the missed deliberate by Selwood (the AFL king of knee dropping when tackled) and then the clearly not intentional by Gus seconds later?  If these 2 calls were by the same umpire, he should be asked to close the door on his way out

Anyone know where this pub is?

Not too dissimilar to my place last night...but only 1 person in the room and a LOT more noise!

Let’s talk about this game and this ending forever.  Shame no one can say “I was there”. Apart from players , officials and security staff.

Well done Layzie, my favourite post of all time. I am going to be chuckling to myself all day.

Deserves to "win the day".

Amd a 3rd on Clarry

And the late call of HtB against ANB

The umpiring all night was atrocious

The late call on Anb was odd. Only after the ball had fallen loose and we were off did the whistle come. Suspiciously late. Not to mention how out of context the free was beside the other calls of the game.

Bbb may not be smashing the scoreboard( he's going ok) but he's certainly providing a target and stopping teams from intercept marks. Made a big difference I reckon since he's been in.

Thanks very much.

we won and won well and l believe we very much deserved to win it. But I think Geelong lost this, they had ample opportunity to take the points but started to play kick to kick in the 3rd quarter to waste time, that really backfired on them.  we only scored a couple of goals in that quarter which gave us confidence yet still had them thinking they had it in the bag, after all how many times would they have lost at home from there. Our magnificent quick burst of goals in the last shook them and they panicked. They still tried to play keepings off, i dont know how many times i screamed at the TV for our guys to man up because they were not looking to move it down the field where they could lose it, they were just trying to run down the clock. At the end when Seldwoods kick along the boundary and out, not deemed deliberate, when Brayshaws was, when it was obvious that there was only one team out there trying to waste time and everyone even the umpires knew that was Geelong. I thought we need a miracle to pull it out of the bag from there. Their kickin from the brayshaw deliberate out was intended to stay close to the boundary so they could bundle it over for another time wasting throw in, if that had worked we would have lost, or even if we had taken the free from that position on the ground they would have flooded the backline and we probably would have lost. But Karma's a [censored]. that punch after it went over the boundary to again waste time was fitting revenge for the numerous deliberates against us not being paid. Great win Dees.

Goal after the siren from a 50 m penalty is the ultimate revenge and sweetest of wins.

Yummy yummy yummy I've got footy in my tummy.

Gotta say it was strange danger was off the ground for so long in the last.

Thanks Scott.

The Bowey dangerous tackle might have been the worst free kick I’ve ever seen. But hey, the umps came through when it mattered

Yeah i had trouble with that one, Bowey dangerous tackle on a bloke 2 x times the size of him? Dangerous to who? Bowey??

There were some very odd decisions in that 3rd quarter.

Well and not long after Tom Hawkins does the same thing to Oliver (harder) and they pay a deliberate out of bounds. You couldn’t make this stuff up.

Personally I don’t know where I’d be without DL. I have zero Dees friends or even fam. I barrack for my beloved team on my own, always have done. But since discovering the awesomeness that is DL, I feel like I’m cheering em on with fellow tragics and it’s so sweet. What a crazy, beautiful bunch of people DLers are!

For those of you wondering if watching the full replay is worth it. It is.

Couple of take aways from the second time around:

Kozzie looked on, and was very agile around stoppage.

Lever was ridiculously good.

Oliver is the player you want when the chips are down.

Max was exceptional after half time.

Tom Sparrow is a great mark for his size. Needs to work on his foot skills.

Brown did what he needed to do. Spargo the same.

Tmac and May will be better for the run.

The big takeaway - Standing up in tackles is the way through a teams defence at stoppage. It’s frustrating to watch players get caught with the ball, but clearly both sides know to take the heat and draw players in so you can get them on the outside. I think this is why Viney is viewed as integral to our game plan.

Clarry was banged up by that and was off soon after (his goal to pay him back).

Thug Dawkins.

Danger nearly ironed him out too with a shoulder early.  Lucky Clarry had some awareness to spin away at the last half second

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
