Jibroni 5,057 Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 The only trade I would like to see is a swap of picks which gets us into the 1st Round of this year's draft. 2 Quote
Gawndy the Great 9,011 Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 We know what Lingers can do on the wing and we saw Brayshaw play one of his best games in a GF on the wing. I have changed my opinion in that we don’t need Cerra. Our midfield brigade is young and hungry and should keep us in good stead for the next 5-6 years without having to change much. Focus needs to be on developing the younger players. No doubt that there will be players on the fringe that will leave for more game time. Quote

When I say now I mean right now. They’re very drunk. It’s a good way to get them to agree to terms. best comment I've ever read on Demonland! You're not wrong though, people can make great decisions when they're drunk so get them to sign now whilst they are on a bender and when they sober up they'll probably be like ' Wait I signed on for 5 years last night? That's (censored) sick' Edited September 26, 2021 by Marcus94 2 7 Quote

I feel like having Sparrow and Jordon in the midfield is great for our future, plus if rivers gets a bigger tank he could play midfield as well 1 Quote
whatwhat say what 23,854 Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 cerra is an absolute jet and would slot perfectly into our midfield rotation he is now likely to nominate the blues from all reports, presumably cos we can't get the deal done as we don't have the assets to offer freo for him Quote

I think Cerra really wants to come to MFC but we don’t have the bargaining chips in players or picks to satisfy Freo. Quote

Then a poster said we could lose a couple fringe-22 players (not of the 2019 crop) in our pursuit of Cerra. But letting him go would be a big mistake in my opinion. Massive mistake, I agree. Sparrow isn’t fringe, he’s clearly best 22. And had some outstanding moments last night - the kick to Fritsch on the goal line was perfect, and the goal he kicked from 50, off a step, to put us three goals up was absolutely huge. It’s not his first big goal from that distance (think Brisbane on the run, last quarter). Plus, he’s a regular at my local cafe with Jimmy Jordon and the two of them look about 14 years old. They’ll be even better when they grow up. 15 1 4 Quote

He’s a long term midfielder I reckon so we’d be needing to look at someone to replace him down back. 2 1 Quote

dee-tox 4,835 Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 I think what yesterday and probably the whole year proved that development is everything. You get the right people in position (Choco Williams) and ordinary, seemingly delistable guys like ANB go to another level. Then your kids (Petty, Rivers, JAckson, JJ, Sparrow, Kozzy grow much faster than expected. Much faster than other clubs as well. Sure I think a bit more depth in hard running skilled ball carriers are needed but even with picks in the 20s and 30s you can unearth blokes and at the same time not ruin your salary cap. This is what we'll do here in my opinion. 5 2 Quote

A body like a Greek God, a leg like a mule, and a toughness that is rare for someone so young. And his delivery inside 50! Holy sheet! By God our recruiters have done a fantastic job over the past half dozen years. 8 Quote

Can't forget the contribution of players like Bernie Vince, Daniel Cross or of course, Jordan Lewis. It's a long list. Redleg 42,156 Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 (edited) Deakyn Smith to come. Rivers, Salem, Bowey, Hunt, Hibbo one year, Hore even JJ played there for Casey. HBF is not a priority. Edited September 26, 2021 by Redleg 2 Quote

(I think) it was Jordan Lewis I heard earlier in the year talk about Clarry's love affair with Brendan McCartney. I found it really interesting that he said Clarry's improvement in his game came from unlearning bad habits McCartney taught him at the coalface 1 Quote

Then it took, in the words of Tommy Hafey, "some finessin' " by others to polish the final product. Macca is part of the legend for me! 4 Quote

I think there is a fair bit of guessing going on in the media tbh, like demonland i think the journo's aren't sure how Melbourne would get the deal done. But my guess is he'd like to come to Melbourne, but probably thinks Carlton is more stress free/doable. Quote

Dogs need at least 2015 points for a potential bid for Darcy at Pick 2. They currently have 1025 (990 short) which are all attached to Pick 17. Their next pick isn't until 70 odd, outside the points scale. The only way they're trading Pick 17 is if it's for multiple picks in this year's draft to give them more points. Our future 1st gives them nothing. If we want to trade into this year's first round by using our future 1st Round Pick, Essendon or St Kilda are probably better bets as they might be looking to stock up on picks for a potential Ben King trade.
