Well you may regret your action Hardwck now that the GF is a distinct possibility. !

?

So where will finals be then? There wasn’t any mention of an MCG GF so I guess that’s off the table now. I find it bizarre that Perth are almost the only ones being properly considered to host the GF, Adelaide Oval is a stunning venue and would be a great location to host. I wonder is the treatment of the olympic athletes that had to double quarantine has made that impossible now.

After seeing covid numbers in Vic today you can just about kiss finals at the MCG goodbye.

All linked is good. Hopeful they found the missing links and we can stay mystery free 🤞😩😭

This is why a part of me doesn't mind the pre finals bye. Give that extra bit of time to assess where numbers are at and hopefully allows us to attend finals in Melbourne.

A bit of history when we’ve finished top 4….

we’ve finished 1st 9 times for 8 flags and 1 runner up

we’ve finished 2nd 4 times for 2 flags

we’ve finished 3rd 8 times for 1 flag and 1 runner up

we’ve finished 4th 8 times for 2 runners up

(…our other flag came when we finished in 6th position at the end of the home and away season)

I’m a bit the same in that I’m surprised they’re considering ditching the bye, I guess they might feel if they can see what’s happening immediately they know more and feel more confident. Whereas if they keep the bye it could get better but it could get worse. What a world we live in! 🙄

Cool. Might be worth me checking my monthly payments as well to see if they charged me for it again this year.

I'm being charged the same as last year.

Hmmm...I wonder what proportion of a tridents home & away season ticket is made up of the grand final guarantee* then Clint. I've just checked and my monthly payments are the same as last year as well. Maybe they've increased the price of a season ticket by exactly the same amount they deducted for our carried over grand final guarantee* from last season.

*guaranteed until such point that it can't be guaranteed.

We should all be watching Tom Stewart's medical report to find out if the pre-finals bye is still on.

If it is 2-4 weeks then the rest week is definite on.

Well things are becoming clearer.

We beat the suns and cats...FIRST

Beat the suns and lose to cats maybe 2nd if dogs beat port.

Which would have us play port if they win this weekend

If we are first we could play cats two weeks in a row.

If port win their next two we could be third and play power away if only we lose to cats after we beat the suns.

Hopefully doggies snap out of their funk and smash port next week.

So If results go as predicted today n tomorrow with Melb, Geel & Port...

Winner of Geel/Melb (1st) v Loser of WB/Port (4th)

Winner of WB/Port (2nd) v Loser of Geel/Melb (3rd)

Crazy round 23!

If the Dogs lose to Port and Brisbane belts the Pies and WC then Brisbane 4th and Dogs 5th.  About a 90 point swing required which is possible

Finals start in 13 days!!

i need to change my undies already!

If results go expect this round (Geelong, Port and we all win), then next week is huge: if Port beats the Dogs next Friday night, we'll need to beat Geelong to avoid going to Adelaide for the first final.

Lol Carlton were never in the race. They’re an abomination

I really do not want to play geelong twice in a row. If it is their home game in finals and they play it down there I willl become demonically insane.

I think you should be more worried about playing Port in Port. Very real chance of this happening.

almost resigned to that or the Cats at Kardinia Park

that's 2021

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
