Harmes and Viney drove me nuts despite the result. I think it was @Jaded in the gameday thread (dangerous territory I know) that suggested Harmes needs to play like Harmes and not like the Bont. Fair call.

Or as Callahan said many years earlier...

I know this is a post game thread but with this performance Dew is surely going to come under the spot light and I wouldn’t be surprised of another player exodus. I reckon we prey on some of their more experienced talent where they may want to experience success and finals in place of $$$ I know they are after leadership and would not want to part way with someone like Touk but he would be such an asset to our midfield brigade. I’d take him over Maynard and another forward option. Anybody know his contract  situation?

I want Rowell. Don’t care about contracts. Just do it!

Not much to add to the Harmes and Viney thread, other than they left Fritch out. Someone needs too explain to Viney, you must move the ball forward at all costs. Don't grab it and put it under your arms and expect that you will not be tackled.

Fritch, really needs to run to the ball our ball carriers. Just some simple skill and technical ideas.

Rowell was a little dirty swinging his elbows around in the contest, didn’t like that

Few penalties for such dangerous deliberations; as these offences were so repetitive, I was really surprised that the umpires did not notice these elbowing-multiples-on-any-Demon-target-in -range, not once. His brief from the coach must have been pre-approved by the whistle carriers, prior to the match. Good old brown paper bag stuff?

Yep, there’s plenty of time before the next match to address the negatives.
But ffs enjoy today’s thumping win! Even if only for a few hours.

Could not agree more, I might pull the cork on the single malt shortly.

I should mention as well that we just passed the tenth anniversary of 186. What better way to show that those days are well and truly behind us?

Bowey was good and hopefully he can hold his spot and become a dangerous kick from half back which in turn releases the lock down on Salem a bit.
Dogga good, looked up and about early and competed well in the ruck.

Great to see Brown kick straight early and help put pressure on the scoreboard.
Clarrie is a star. Just took back top spot in coaches award.

Pressure was great and must be harped upon all week so they know it must be there all game every game.
Hope Tmac is alright but tbh I’d nearly leave him in Melbourne and play a smaller forward line vs WC

You say that like it's factual.

Its a quote from leigh Mattehws during his time coaching the Lions.. re: the statistic in question.

I don't know if its factual, but I suspect Matthews does.

it is interesting that a team that gets beaten by almost 100 points has the same number of frees, Just thought the consistency was  non existent,

Look what happens when you appply forward pressure.

A good result against a pizz weak opposition so it is hard to take anything from the game.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
