Under what circumstances would you not take a 98 point win?

If all 22 players got injured?

That was a very enjoyable early afternoon and a prefect lead in to a boozy late afternoon enjoying some freedom in Victoria.

A repeat next week please.

I agree that Harmes struggled and ideally wouldn't be in our best 22 atm. Who comes in for him though? I am not sure our depth runs deep and we have blessed for the first time ever by the injury gods.

Is Laurie ready? It was great to have Bowey's clean disposal albeit under sfa pressure and another clean mid would be gold atm. The thing is though that Harmes at his best is in the best 22. I suppose it is up to him to sort it out quickly or risk losing the chance of a lifetime. Jack is the same to a certain degree but Jacks best is top shelf. I hope he overcomes whatever is holding him back soon. Jacks best position might be the defensive forward. I don't know, in fact I know Jack Sht when it comes to roles within the team. I should no more but the wide angle tv viewing doesn't help at all. In this time of Civid flexibility is it too much to ask for an option of down the ground viewing. I mean what is this? 1970's East Germany? It is what the coaches and players use so I suppose its more than useful.

Additionally what is obvious is that Angus has found his niche again and his defensive work early was awesome. And Clayton is the best of our best in last 50 years. From the 1st minute of his first game until the last minute of today he has been phenomenal.

Our best work is when we are manic with the 1%s and our best work will be too much for anyone else. We just have to bring it every game and kick straight . Five posters didnt help.

All in all a good day and the Chief Healh Officers can go suck on a big fat juicy one while assessing their facebook likes!

The Suns today did remind me a bit of some of our efforts from ‘12 to ‘13. We could put up token pockets of resistance, but if the hard questions were asked, the heads would drop, the discipline would evaporate and it was time to suppress another memory.

I agree. Thought the same thing.

Against a poo side  the job was adequately done     Now for next week

A 20 point win would be adequate. This was substantial.

Jones, Melksham, Jordon, AVB, Chandler. Theres a few options

Interestingly Bowey wasn’t in middle of circular during team song.

Maybe trying to avoid another Milk incident.

Melsham/Vanders in for Viney/Harmes next week

This summary from the AFL website is certain to upset plenty of posters:  :D

BEST
Gold Coast: Miller, Ballard, Rowell, Swallow
Melbourne: Oliver, Petracca, Harmes, May, Jackson, Brown, Viney

Disappointing final quarter but we looked absolutely spent, which may well be the result of yesterday.

We were 11.5 midway through the second quarter so to finish 18.21 is annoying. Percentage almost certainly irrelevant from here though.

Harmes awful, Viney better but not by too much.

That aside, heaps to like. Pressure like that beats 17 clubs, not just GC. Oliver dominant, Lever, Petty and May all strong, Bowey looked at home, Brown’s best game, ANB improved, Jackson’s best game, I liked Brayshaw’s defensive work too.

A lot to like, despite there being plenty we can improve on.

Brayshaw was very good - his class came back, today. Viney was wasteful in several areas. Need to put a little more depth into Harmes' understanding of '...know your kick ... and how to send 'em through the big sticks most times...' Petty was enormous. Bowie fits. We all know who were the superstars.

Yeah not that inspiring really. An in form Jordon is better. Lockhart is the one. I rated him last year. There were a couple of bone headed moments but he is quick and hard. Skills ok.

14 wins so far….only the 13th time (not including finals) we’ve done that in our history…

I'm a big Lockheart fan too, I like what I saw last year as his effort was always there.

Some on here seem to forget that % doesnt matter anymore with the draw....so as long as we win by a point its ok !

What a great answer the critics win by the Dees.

Why would they bust their gut in the last quarter with a 90 odd point lead with 2 road trips and finals coming up. Stupid.

% still matters.  Who is to say Brisbane or Port won't draw a game in the next few....

For those complaining about goal kicking accuracy, it probably pays to get a little more forensic than merely looking at goals and points.

I find the AFL app (surprisingly) good at giving a breakdown.

By my reckoning, that's 18 goals kicked, plus 13 points kicked (5 posters) and 7 rushed behinds.

Stats are rubbish how many did Harmes, Viney and Tmac miss close in, lets not get carried away with stats they are overrated.

What happened to Salem? Was carrying ice after the game. And was listed as 'Out' on the AFL website

I think most of us would love him to experience some success.  Sadly he's not best 22.

Harmes got accolades at the 3qtr time huddle. He's locked in for now.

I’m convinced that most ‘best’ lists are just made by looking at the stats. Sometimes I wonder if people are even watching the same game. How can Rowell and Swallow be in the best when their direct opponents are the reason we won by 15 goals? It’s strange.

Rowell was a little dirty swinging his elbows around in the contest, didn’t like that

terrible goal kicking. haven't improved in this area. Harmes a slow learner, kept missing to the right.

Read @Engorged Onion’s post above. It makes you see things in a different light. Well, it did for me, anyways.

That’s interesting. How do you know this, and do you know what it was for? Love to know what role he was playing.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
