Pity the Pies couldn't/can't cause a boil over. Am hoping for North with Westcoast. I want them in bottom half of 8, no home final and touch wood they are easy beats. But all in all a good weekend.

Might have gone too soon there.

The crowd in this Richmond Pies game is an impressive sight. So many mullets. So few teeth.

Assuming Richmond and West Coast finish this round in the 8, here's the top 8's record vs the top 8:

  1. Melbourne - 6-0
  2. Sydney - 5-2
  3. Geelong - 5-3
  4. Bulldogs - 4-4
  5. Brisbane - 3-4
  6. West Coast - 2-4
  7. Port - 2-5
  8. Richmond - 1-6

Reigning premier… NO THREEPEAT FOR YOU!

Not sure about your maths but a great win by any calculation.

We won, 4 points, Bulldogs lost, 4 points, Brisbane lost, 4 points and 4 bonus points.

Big round next week too. All 3 opposition matches could help be games clear.. Go Dockers, Tigers and Suns. All have a good chance.

Hang on, aren't we playing the Suns?

I spoke too soon...

Richmond appear to be totally and utterly cooked.

Couldn't have happened to a more deserving bunch of [censored]s (although the beneficiary being Collingwood isn't exactly ideal).

I feel dirty going for thr filth, but this is just too good  ?

This round could not have panned out much  better from our perspective.

And an Essendon loss because Essendon.

How good is this. Tigers playing for their season next week against Brisbane. Will have to add some popcorn to the shopping list this week for next Friday night.

Brilliant round of footy sets up our second half of the year.

Its all in our own hands now.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
