Simon,

If this experiment with Ben Brown doesn't work, it is time to put Majak Daw at full forward, and only there, with ruck assistance in the forward line allowing Gawn and Jackson to carry the majority of ruck work around the ground.

As witnessed last week again, we have trouble kicking high scores.

The small forwards need a big body to crash packs, take big marks, and score more goals.

Daw is a much better kick than Max, doesn't take 100 meters to line up for goal, can take big pack marks and is well worth a try.

Do it before the season ends!

I'm sure he'd give a good account of himself as required, but 43 goals in 54 games suggests he's not going to be the difference.

(Yes, I know he played in defence for a bit. Point stands).

He's not exactly setting the world on fire and leading the VFL goal kicking  this year either is he?

That said, I'm happy that we have Majak on the list as ruck/KPP depth and also denying our opponents of that.  Also happy for the guy that he's still able to be a part of an AFL club and who knows what the future holds in terms of a potential senior call up at some stage.  If it were to happen, I'd be rapt for him and hope he covers himself and the MFC in glory, but it's not looking like the fairy tale right now.

@Hellofatime

Have you consumed seventeen beers prior to posting this nugget of pure gold?

I completely agree with you - not much but a bit.

Things are such in the forward line that do not mean panic, just finer adjustments.

Daw, playing such a role (as you suggest, "Hello..."), is a strategy that many of us DL fanatics have considered, repeatedly, as a roaming fwd pocket tall because he can kick them accurately and is a mighty presence, and is a fine mark.

BB will have his role with greater support from the smalls; this frees both Fritta and TMac to do their things in a mobile mentality - all occurring each and every time the ball enters the forward line.

Such an arrangement is not confusion for our overall attack but it will be for any opposition defenders - no matter who they are or how good they (and the media) rate themselves.

The smalls' roles are vital and should be well-populated. I'd go for Viney out of the midfield and into a steering role from the other forward pocket with the likes of Kozzie and Spargo roving the hell out of opportunities, with Melksham and Hunt (the latter two from the HFFlks) and, from the bench, a mobile and now-fit JSmith. This function can be fortified by the addition - week on, week off - of the likes of our newbies with such talent until these younger players adapt themselves more fully to the rigors and experience levels required within/of AFL standards.

We can do this.

The way that some posters talk about Majak Daw it is incredible that he is not a top 10 goalscorer in the competition, let alone has played just 54 games in 10 years.

An accurate kick, mighty presence and a fine mark? What adjectives does that leave for Tom Hawkins and players of that ilk?

Hi Majak and welcome to Demonland

Great to hear your enthusiasm but suspect you might have to deliver a bit more at Casey and prove your point

I know your mate BB hasn't exactly done that but he does has some decent form on the board kicking goals a few years ago - hence he is given the chance ahead of you

The problem with this post is the poster's that agreed with it, they are a worry.

Majak is purely cover for injuries. He's a handy depth player but thinking he is the solution to our forward woes is delusional

I just had a quick squiz at Hellofatime's posting history and six of has last seven posts have been calling for Majak's inclusion up forward.  It's not just an opinion, it's a crusade!

Also noted. I am becoming more and more convinced that Hellofatime is in fact either Majak Daw himself ........or Majak's mum.

I wonder what the Sportsbet odds would be for Goody to see this message…

He'd probably bet on it and then forget to look.
