If we were a side that had 25k turn up and make noise today, we very well might have got a W

Mark Williams was literally asking the crowd to make noise at 3 qtr time. If you could've come and you didn't, you have no grounds to criticise.

All the best.

Lol now I’ve seen it all.
I was at the game. We made plenty of noise in the last quarter to help the team. You know what we didn’t do? Select a non existent forwardline and struggle to win clearances.
Jesus Christ let’s blame us supporters for putting up with a mediocre club for 60 damn years.

I couldn't attend (Interstate member). There seemed to be plenty of noise from the crowd while watching on tv.

we're the top side on the ladder and we had 16k there. Made no noise for 3 quarters.
Congratulations on seeing it all

How have attendances been going this year? How many did Richmond get? Geelong?
Give me a break. We got 17,000 which is almost as many as came last week to watch two Victorian sides.

Maybe if there was something to cheer about we would have got going. We are not a [censored] supporter base that cries and boos all game.

neither of those sides are on top of the ladder

Geelong not doing too badly it seems. And Essendon were up and about and Richmond have 100,000 members. Twice what we have.
To blame the fans for today’s loss is legit the single funniest finger pointing I’ve seen since Essendon fans blamed the umpires last week. Absolutely dreaming.

Lol pathetic thread. Blame supporters for the loss lmao.

Guess Tracs 25m directly in front miss was due to the crowd numbers.

Doesn't alter the thread which is a fair comment. Imagine how much louder if another THIRD (8,000)  more fans could have made.
Of course the players play the game and are responsible but facts are facts and the statement out of 50,000 members only about 12,000 turned up. Rest are MCC and supporters and GWS!

And don't write in with 60 years of frustration !!!  That's not relevant this season YET!

I don't think the crowd was the difference (and there was definitely plenty of noise in the last quarter) but it was a bit disappointing that only 17,000 turned up. I understand that numbers are down due to COVID nerves and Ticketek inconvenience, but it's a sad sight when Melbourne can't pull a decent crowd when we're top of the ladder and fans have been deprived of a home game for a month.

Johnny I was there,  and there was bugger all to make noise for in the first 3 qtrs other than out of frustration,  we were awful!

We resembled a team in the last and the crowd got involved accordingly.

It was as also the coldest I can ever remember being at the footy!

By the way did you see Richmonds crowd on Thurs,  and they have twice our members.

Yeah let’s blame the supporters

What a foolish comment

Never mind the crowd not turning up, what about the players?

[censored] off

in the middle of a pandemic. 2 weeks ago you could have 3 adults over to your house - you reckon people might be ****scared about being with 25K other people??

There was no lack of noise and support. What was lacking was intensity (early) and smart decision making and clean execution.

Was at the game and the crowd in the last quarter was doing everything they could to lift the boys. It truly sounded like 40k+ with the amount of noise in the stands. We did what we could and they couldn't get it done.

This club is a hard one to turn up for when you enjoy watching good competitive sport where 2 teams go at it trying to win. Lots of fans are accustomed to the Demons picking and choosing when they'll have a crack...and many probably suspected today was going to be one of those days where the players couldn't be bothered...and they were right.

We have had so many years of the results being worse than they should have been, based purely on inconsistent effort, it'll take 3+ years of consistent effort from the players before supporters will attend consistently.

I was there, unfortunately for me.

Will try and make more noise next time, pretty sure it was directly my fault.

Today did nothing for my ongoing #mfcss

They should be able to play well anywhere, anytime. Crowd noise or not. They switch off and then on the flip side individually try to do too much.. bern the same story for a number of years.

Pathetic reason and look at yourself as a supporter ! The first 14 rounds have been in vain  for you ? Did you go ? Go to another Club then you picker and chooser.

[censored] thread.

We drew 16,000+ to a game where there were about 100 GWS supporters tops, on a day where it felt sub-zero.

Essendon had the night slot last week against us and drew 19,000-odd.

Meanwhile the 16,000-odd of us who were there were making as much noise as we could to gee them up.

Really, [censored] thread.

You make a fair point and no, I didn't go today. To be honest, I don't go to games anymore as I just don't enjoy it.

My overtly negative comments on Demonland help me put the frustration of the days' performance behind me, but are probably best ignored! The first 14 rounds have been a good step forward for the club...we still have a long way to go.

As I've said before, those that have enjoyed the journey to where we are now, and continue to ride the highs and lows without complaint, are the ones who I admire the most and who rightfully will enjoy the ultimate success the most when we finally get there.

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didn’t just beat Gold Coast — they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #28 Will Verrall

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #29 Tom Campbell

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharp

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #31 Bayley Fritsch

Worked his way back after a slow start and a further slump in form going into the midseason but became a solid contributor for the club in the latter half of 2025. Closing in on 300 goals for the club.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
