No advance warning from the club. We missed the commencement time for priority member going on sale and ended up on level 2 of Southern Stand. Not happy. P!ss poor MFC.

Is it the fault of the MFC? I would think its the AFL, MCC and ticketek who decide the arrangements. Not sure the club has much say in it, probably gave as much notice as they could to members

Hi Stiff Arm. I've never been one to bag the club but the email from them dropped 2 hours before tickets going on sale which has never been the case before whilst under the same covid restrictions. If you're working and can't make prior arrangements to free yourself up and log on you might miss out on getting any available tickets.

Just got off the website for Ticketek

To the membership Department

Now   I have been a member for about 45 of the past 50 years.
The last 25 years straight
I have not managed to see a live match since 2019
Covid is not your fault I understand, but I have arranged to come to Melbourne for this weekend
Hoping to see the match.
You sent me the correct bar codes and I thank you for that.
But your Ticketek did not work on my PC after some frustration I used an Apple computer   it worked better but did not complete
There were no spots to get Members tickets unless a paid a significant premium
I used the iPad same problem.   even much more frustration.
I used the iphone,  finally got a screen that said No tickets available at that price   ie as a member.

Am I happy    I am sure your are not surprised , NO I AM NOT !

Try that Bob.

Can I call you stiffy?

I just tried some flexi barcodes you get when you want the mobile membership without following through on the transaction ... you can still get tickets on the ticketek website at no cost if you select General Reserved at the bottom of the page ... find its also helpful to clear 'ticketek' internet browser history before trying again

Again, its hardly the club's fault that ticketek can't get it right. Its not "your ticketek", the club does not control ticketek, ticketing is between the AFL, MCC and ticketek.

I hear your pain 640MD, but let's not blame the club because you've had problems using the ticketek website

There are couple of common mistakes that i have made with this system in the past. The main being you have to select general.

I just bought a ticket, and there are some left. But only singles at the moment. If they got 85% on friday more will become available, but that is a big if.

I was going with friends but couldn't get multiples and did not want to risk missing out again, so i just bought a single. In a pretty good spot too.

These instructions from the MFC website are new, and are good actually as they address the common mistakes that are super easy to make. I have highlighted the key bits:

How to get tickets

Click ---- SELECT DATE ---- and select Club Members & Public Reserve

Enter your barcode(s) into the box provided and select Unlock Tickets

Click – Select a seating type – and select Melbourne Allocation or General Seating

Do NOT select Best available (Any price)

Select General Reserved to access a $0 ticket OR select a specific seating area to purchase an upgrade to a reserved seat

Use the drop-down box to select your ticket under Upgrade: Adult Club Member

Select Next to view your seat

Enter the name and mobile number of each member or guest attending

Select Go to Checkout to finalise your order

Re ticketing. As soon as Kent raised the alarm on this thread I contacted my tech smart mate who had my barcode from earlier in the year.

Apparently he's had no problem getting me a ticket one bay from where I usually sit.

I have no idea idea what accounts for the inconsistencies that are occurring - clearly a [censored] up somewhere in the system.

I suspect that no one is listening to complaints be it AFL, Ticketek or the MFC. This is the system take it or leave it. I wrote a letter (email) to the new chief a few weeks back  and after 3 weeks I received a reply from someone else who answered questions I had not raised . Nett result I think with current staff levels they are snowed under and doing the best they can. I have sympathy for them.

Everyone needs to vent from time to time. ?

ahh yes ....of course they do.

Is that why you like just about every post - even those that appear in opposition ?

You must have been disappointed that the name Pollyanna was taken

I was lucky enough to see the MFC email a few minutes before the 1 pm ‘priority’ members email, in between my endless Zoom meetings and baking sourdough bread.

I managed to get seats a couple of bays next to my original seats which we’ve sat in once for the last season and a half.

I’m very, very excited, and will yell at the umpires on behalf of anyone who has missed out.

But, I have now trained myself not to boo. (Well, I booed twice last time, but it has been a steadily declining occurrence, so I think/hope I’m cured now, having heard the Essenboohoos.)

go Dees.

Thanks to you all for support and advice.

So I have tried again on the PC about 10 times

each time a little different but it was working on the PC

got to payment for 2 tickets 3 times and it crashed, at least 4 other times only if I purchased the tickets.

But one time I got all the way and it did not crash  Woo Hoo   i have 2 ticks.

But this is going to be god orfull when we are looking to purchase Grand Final Tickets.

Obviously I am good on computers  !!

Now we only have to win     Go Dees

Wow. Why so rude? Who hurt you?

I don’t think I have to explain myself to you but as we both agree, everyone needs to vent from time to time. So…  I do thumbs up many posts. And yes, sometimes they’re contradictory yet I thumbs up both. Reason being, thumbs up doesn’t necessarily mean you agree. It can also mean I don’t agree but I appreciate/admire the argument you’ve put forth.

And what’s it to you anyways? How is it affecting you? Unless and until Andy tells me to quit acknowledging so many posts, I’ll go ahead and thumbs up the sh*t outta as many posts as I like.
I really don’t understand the Pollyanna reference. But speaking of usernames, maybe yours should be shortened to just “Bitter.”

All that and you didn't give me a like !!!!!!

I don't usually like to complain.

But the ticketing system really confused me today.

I am a Redlegs member and I am supposed to have a reserved seat.

I tried to call the Melbourne Football Club twice but couldn't get through and I have had difficulties with Ticketek and putting in a barcode.

Anyway, I will try and call the Melbourne Football Club again tomorrow and rectify the issue.

considering that Ticketek is working beautifully as usual I think the maximum capacity of 25K will be sufficient

The ticket companies have been garbage for years. It's unsurprising their systems are creaking under the pressure of changing government restrictions.

Now, again thanks for the encouragement,  I can only think the problems were Ticketek having too many purchasers.

at times there was no delay, others 5 seconds and some 10 seconds, even so it was the 10 second delay that got me right through.

1/ I used different platforms , all had problems, in the end my PC worked.

2/ I tried about 15 times in the afternoon and perhaps 10 after dinner and reading the posts on here,

at differing times,

3/ there were no places to put the codes, and sometimes no General Reserved button

4/ Then there were no tickets at $0 but $27 and $54 at times x 2 thats  a bit exxy   no beer or pie money then.

5/ On the 5 occassions it took the $0 and I got through to payment "something unexpected happened, go back"   WTF !

6/ In the end I took what I got and did not change it for position, too scared I would get one or more of the above.

7/ thanks again and keep persisting , like the rain this saturday.

Lets win this one   Go Dees

Not sure I would take anything on here as serious, its mostly BS apart from some football souls that actually have an insight into the game and make my comments to others outside of here sound as if I understand the game.   Go Dees

Worked at a newsagents that had a Ticketek outlet up to about 3 years ago. Their programs were never user friendly, even for the operator, let alone the customer and don't even think about ringing their help line always took forever to get through. Since covid I think its been abandoned altogether.

All good. We kissed and made up (figuratively!) in a PM back n forth. I didn’t wanna be the cause of any extra grief for his poor maid. I just need to grow a thicker skin.

I've been trying to get tickets for my Dad, son and myself using our membership barcodes  this morning with no luck. The page is saying that allocations for all of the seating categories are exhausted, and I've even tried to pay for the upgraded options to no avail. Is it possible that all tickets have actually been snapped up, or am I just useless at this ticket buying caper??

well last week the g was capped at 25k and fully ticketted by ticketek. they said it was a sell-out, but attendance ended up over 20% down at 19.5k

so i doubt they have sold 25k tickets for this week, but they will probably say they have

gov has already announced no lifting of current restrictions, so the anticipated lifting to 85% capacity for this week is put off for another week

you could try ringing the club as they can often help in these situations.....worth a try at least

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Having convincingly defeated last year’s premier and decisively outplayed the runner-up with 8.2 in the final quarter, nothing epitomized the Melbourne Football Club’s performance more than its 1.12 final half, particularly the eight consecutive behinds in the last term, against a struggling St Kilda team in the midst of a dismal losing streak. Just when stability and consistency were anticipated within the Demon ranks, they delivered a quintessential performance marked by instability and ill-conceived decisions, with the most striking aspect being their inaccuracy in kicking for goal, which suggested a lack of preparation (instead of sleeping in their hotel in Alice, were they having a night on the turps) rather than a well-rested team. Let’s face it - this kicking disease that makes them look like raw amateurs is becoming a millstone around the team’s neck.

  • CASEY: Sydney

The Casey Demons were always expected to emerge victorious in their matchup against the lowly-ranked Sydney Swans at picturesque Tramway Oval, situated in the shadows of the SCG in Moore Park. They dominated the proceedings in the opening two and a half quarters of the game but had little to show for it. This was primarily due to their own sloppy errors in a low-standard game that produced a number of crowded mauls reminiscent of the rugby game popular in old Sydney Town. However, when the Swans tired, as teams often do when they turn games into ugly defensive contests, Casey lifted the standard of its own play and … it was off to the races. Not to nearby Randwick but to a different race with an objective of piling on goal after goal on the way to a mammoth victory. At the 25-minute mark of the third quarter, the Demons held a slender 14-point lead over the Swans, who are ahead on the ladder of only the previous week's opposition, the ailing Bullants. Forty minutes later, they had more than fully compensated for the sloppiness of their earlier play with a decisive 94-point victory, that culminated in a rousing finish which yielded thirteen unanswered goals. Kicks hit their targets, the ball found itself going through the middle and every player made a contribution.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
