You can't get a Verdi in edgeways on this thread ... maybe I need to make some overtures.

Have you tried a Monteverdi?

No but I am not keeping a Tallis

Schubert: nuggety, short, round, rover type. Talented with the ball, good on either side of the body. Poetry in motion but never took care of his body due to too much alcohol consumption in season. Little known fact, he wrote every clubs' song.
Hayden: prolific scorer.
Beethoven: stingy defender. Holds record amongst "classical" era composers for total weeks suspended. Reinvented the way the game is played. Could have been a great coach but would never listen to his assistants.

Not only did he write every clubs' song, he forgot the next day he'd done it. He used to come across a clump of his songs, read, play through them and say, Not bad. Who write these?

Maybe try a Motet by Rameau: he used to go out with Juliet.

I thought Beethoven was famous for his last movement, moving Coventry to full back.

I prefer Percy Grainger - a very gifted but fragile forward who was always composed.  A fan favorite but not popular in the sheds as he was considered a mummys boy.

WE won't mention what he wanted mummy to do to him all day and night.

You could tell other fans to Bach Orff - it's not our fault they can't Handel such high-level thinking, nor our Sartori-al splendor, know what I'm Saens?

Bonus points to anyone who can make a pun from Tchaikovsky

Challenge accepted.

"I like to relax with a half skinny/half almond soy milk double shot Tchai kovsky, with caramel syrup, when listening to death metal."

That's the best I can do. Sorry.

As a Melbourne supporter, I was taking a weekend at my snow chalet but fell sick after I put too much spice in my tea.

I got a Tchai kov. Sky-ing was impossible after that.

I love a good cup of chai *cough* skiing is fun.
Like everyone else, sorry.

If this COVID keeps up, we’ll be playing all our games in a Cage, and with long hair because we’re not allowed to see the Barber.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
