I think it's pretty clear the game will either go ahead or it won't

I'll keep you all updated

Nah it's not. You may have heard the same as me about The Sporting Globe in Mordi, but I think it's not that one due to the different times. The 'word' going around is it may have been Marty Hore, which is why it's possibly a blessing in a way given he's currently injured and not around the players as much.

Marty Hore was at training on Tuesday.  See the Training Gallery on the MFC Website.

Thanks Sandra.

It could just be postponed, there's no scheduled match at Docklands on Saturday night or on Sunday.

I realise that could upset Channel 7 because they would have a broadcast clash and have the Suns v Hawks and Swans v Blues blockbusters scheduled for broadcast then, but surely that wouldn't be a show stopper.  Maybe they could show both matches at the same time on their different channels.

In rehab though, I'm not sure how much he was in direct contact with other players.

It might not even be Hore, it's just what some are saying and makes sense given it's obviously a player who's somewhat separate at the moment.

Christ on a stick what a total mess.
Covid is a rude biatch. Doesn’t she know we are 9-1. Doesn’t she care?
Must be a Collingwood supporter.

I assume he would attend all the meetings though

Nah, if it was it would be a dental disease!

Yeah probably, and possibly even walked over to Gosch's with the players. I guess that's what they're investigating now which is why tomorrow's game is still up in the air.

The Dees/Ess Sunday game last year was postponed because McKenna tested positive on the Friday and the Saturday.  It was a new situation and no time to develop contingencies.

iirc McKenna had been in the weights room and attend meetings with his 'group'.  The health department ticked this off as being ok and other Ess players did not need to isolate for 14 days.

Unless one of our players or officials tests positive I see no reason why tomorrow night's game should not go ahead.

Word on the Street it was Max Gawn at the LARP event Carlton!

King Max!

The other thing to remember is that we had restrictions went that happened. Connor broke restrictions.

Marty hasn’t done anything wrong here. He’s just unlucky and it’s very hard to keep on top of all the exposure sites. New ones are getting added by the hour.

Reported on SEN via Sam Edmund that it was a player that's part of the rehab group.

Rehab group still have contact with other players and staff who then in turn have contact with other players and staff.

For this not to be an issue in regards to playing this match on Friday as scheduled it has to be a player who has zero contact with other players and staff or they all return a negative result. Having said that even returning a negative result might not be enough given that this virus sometimes doesn't show up till a few days later and presumably they've all be tested just today.

Hahaha, years ago I used the line 'Christ on a stick' in conversation thinking it was brilliant. My good friend thought it was terrible and paid out on me for years uttering it.

Id never seen it mentioned until now so I'm vindicated and he was a nump! Ironically he IS a Collingwood supporter as well!

All true Andy.

Apparently Dees are arguing the point that the player in question has in fact had minimal to no contact with the rest of the playing group etc...

Time will soon tell mate.

That worked well for us*, we missed playing them while they were in form and got them when they were rotten.

* adjusting for already having stuffed the season up in Cairns.

Except, the last quarter was by far the best quarter of footy they played all year. Moved Daniher into the ruck and they almost run over the top of us.

Gave Essendon supporters hope for 2021, until...Daniher, Sadd ect left??

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?

  • FEATURE: 1925

A hundred years ago today, on 2 May 1925, Melbourne kicked off the new season with a 47 point victory over St Kilda to take top place on the VFL ladder after the opening round of the new season.  Top place was a relatively unknown position for the team then known as the “Fuchsias.” They had finished last in 1923 and rose by only one place in the following year although the final home and away round heralded a promise of things to come when they surprised the eventual premiers Essendon. That victory set the stage for more improvement and it came rapidly. In this series, I will tell the story of how the 1925 season unfolded for the Melbourne Football Club and how it made the VFL finals for the first time in a decade on the way to the ultimate triumph a year later.
