Agree. He has shown enough at Casey for his chance.

Jake might have had a tough week with the newborn coming home.  Might be a chance for him to get 2 hours sleep on the bench. ??

??

Really exciting day for us tomorrow. Get to see the forward line we’ve been trying to build for a few years. I also think the weather will hold out which will make it easier for us to evaluate the dynamics of our forward structures.

I really hope Chandler takes his chance. That will help the balance of our list and set the standard for work rate for our forwards.

Not only do good teams get good tv times, they also get good umpires.... Never knew that was a thing! Been so long

Good to go on Sunday. Chandler and Weid now have their opportunity.   Lets see what they do against  Carlton.  Take the bull  by the horns.

Bring it on.

The mail I have is Trac will not play tomorrow.

If that is the case Mitch & Maj played a full game today.  Do players ever back up from the VFL the next day in the seniors?

Normally Mitch would be an auto in here if he didn't play today surely.

Huh? Why would we bring in Mitch Brown for Petracca?

Melksham would be the obvious choice should that be needed.

I would have thought Sparrow would be the one to play if Petracca couldn't

He played the full game today I'm pretty sure.

My bad...on the turps.  Read that as TMac

There's footage going around that Trac was moving freely at today's captains run??

After seeing that I would be surprised if he is not playing.

I realize that but if Petracca is unable to play tomorrow they would have known before today and made sparrow an emergency

Uhm where is the vomit emoji?!

Not sure why people are happy Melk has been dropped, while I don’t see what others “have” this season he’s still one of us. Hopefully he can go back and find his game again! Or is it more a self congratulatory high 5 to yourself…

Sorry, thought we were dealing in the current realities; not taking your opinion as fact. As you were.

Really, strange you mixing up fact for opinions.

I doubt most are happy as such Cards.  Melk is a fringe 22 player so he needs to up the ante' to maintain his place.

There's always going to be a bottom 6 or so in a similar position who are fighting to do so.

Opportunities sometimes then occasionally arise for fringe players waiting their turn at VFL level to step up and see what they can do, provided they've earned it of.course.

Provided There's quality depth coming from underneath i would think this is a healthy thing all round.  Player in waiting gets a chance to perform and some experience at the highest level.  Coaches get to see whether he can play the role being asked and where he's at.

I see this as a very healthy situation.

Compare this to the alternative of a bottom 6 or less, say 2, 3 or more under-performing and/or few injuries and no one coming through to take their place.  I know which position i'd rather be in as a club/FD/coach.

Sorry I should have said the self congratulatory group.

Can’t wait for tomorrow, after tonight the Dees need to step it up again, Togs not done, Dogs are top of the pops.

A long way to go ...plenty can happen.  Fingers & toes crossed every week from here.  Luck plays a fair role also.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • POSTGAME: Geelong

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.
