TEAMS: Rd 01 vs Fremantle

As a teaser, this is from Whispering Jack’s match preview UNFINISHED BUSINESS -

“The great unknown of 2021 will be how teams adapt to the longer quarters and reduced rotations. It’s been suggested that fitness and fatigue will come into play, particularly at the end of quarters.

“Therefore, I would expect a conservative approach to team selection so that players who have had reduced preseasons will have to prove their ability to see out a full game before selection in the team. The noises coming from the club suggest this will be the case. Jack Viney was ruled out well before the time came for team selection and I believe that a couple of others who might be counted as regulars will be kept back out of an abundance of caution. (I thank the premier for that line).”

First game of the year and team selection sucks.

Such a slow team.  Sparrow ahead of Chandler....

Has Chandler suddenly become an on baller? Team is pretty much right I would personally  play Bowey ahead of Jetta and Chandler ahead of Spargo on form but its a good balance for who is available.

Harmes on the wing. Good grief.

Yep - it's a rare day I agree with your constant vitriol of the club selections and players @olisik (back handed, I know) - however, the evidence from the last few years is that Harmes struggles in this position... however, I defer to the selection committee... the decision cannot be around 'it'll click sometime for him'... so what else is there to do?

I think that it is there, underneath the carpet at the moment. Who knows when it will emerge? It's a cautious team selection but this is a game in which we need to be aggressive and ready to switch on the talent.

Just because he is named there doesn't mean he is going to play there, you would think that people would wake up to the fact that a lot of positional spots named pregame alter on game day.

Look who you're replying too. That'll answer your question.

Hope Clarry plays a blinder on his 100th

Best of luck for a great game and find career to Jimmy Jordon - definitely due some good luck

And for all the naysayers that say that Jetta is too slow - show them how it’s done you bloody legend

Ok then, if he doesn’t play there then who does? Whose our 2nd winger based on this team?

Jones? Tmac?

Exactly. Last years problems are this years problems - one outside runner, and no forward line.

I’m still furious we didn’t try and bring in another winger. It’s been an issue for 4 years.

Spargo getting a game on his last weeks terrible performance, says a lot about our options and lack of improvement. Meanwhile Chandler and Bowey miss out

Shocking selections

If I was coach I'd name people in different positions every week just to come to this thread and laugh manically

2024 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence. 2024 Player Reviews: #13 Clayton Oliver

Lack of preparation after a problematic preseason prevented Oliver from reaching the high standards set before last year’s hamstring woes. BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin

Melbourne’s most important player who dominated the first half of the season until his untimely injury in the Kings Birthday clash put an end to his season. At the time, he was on his way to many personal honours and the club in strong finals contention. When the season did end for Melbourne and Petracca was slowly recovering, he was engulfed in controversy about a possible move of clubs amid claims about his treatment by the club in the immediate aftermath of his injury.
