Latest update in table above, with comparison back to 2011.

A bit ahead of 2020 at this stage, but behind 2019, not surprisingly

They had better win the first game George or it will dead in the water.

I tried to sign up today. Was on hold for ages then I hung up. I’ll try again tomorrow.

Saints are 10,000 more than us.

And, Carlton have 74,000+ members and they've had far less success than us.  North not far behind us with 33,400 members even tho they have been a shambles for several years.

We are not travelling well vs those less performing Vic clubs who were similarly affected by lack of live games in 2020 due to covid.

These comparisons should be setting off alarm bells at the club..

Do you know LH if the comparisons are based on full memberships or total (including kids, pets, 3 games etc.) I know the Saints went very heavy advertising for 3 game memberships a year or 2 ago and most of those have been automatically rolled over.

Sorry, I don't know the mix.  I guess all membership provide opportunities for sponsors and broadcasters and give clubs leverage with the AFL.

We did something different this year.  I was offered a renewal of two Redleg memberships in Nov for $1 and they would send the full membership pack before Christmas which they did.  And if I didn't cancel it the full amount would be charged on March 1.  Needless to say I didn't cancel it.

That's a great deal LH. Sadly it did not extend done to the plebes.

Just to clarify - on March 1, I paid the full Redleg membership for two.  The $1 'deposit', I think was to get an emotional committment.

I think the only reason for that offer was because I had cancelled my automatic renewal as I wasn't happy with 2020.  I suspect other members who hadn't paid by end of Oct, were given the same offer.

My son automatically gets a 3 game St Kilda membership with his SMJFL registration. I suspect their numbers are highly inflated.

I also expect that a LOT of MFC members will have downgraded their memberships this year - numbers may be comparable to last year, but dollars will be significantly down. But if numbers are what matters to broadcasters and the like, we desperately need to find a way to piggy back off the work of one of these large community organisations.

Thanks for that info poita! it's why it's hard to take some of the numbers on face value. Number might make the broadcasters happy but $ is what makes the world go round, it's probably why we're in a reasonably healthy financial position while the saints are very much struggling with huge debts.

Membership revenue is all that matters. Hawks pet membership and Saints/Dogs free ones are a joke really. Membership numbers are just a [censored] measuring contest.

I don't know about that. With Gold Coast and GWS aside we have the smallest following of any club.

Mega ring and leave a number for a call back rather than staying on line. I think they are being inundated with members ringing with booking queries.

Yeah I got through today. I thought about getting a call back but I’m just too busy at work to take a call. Ended up calling during my lunch break.

I guess it’s a good thing that they’re busy. Hopefully getting some members signed up.

Facts are we topped North snd Bulldogs by 2,000 last year

A Re over 3,000 more than North in 2021 presume Doggies would be ahead at this stage.

whatever happens in Rounds 1-6 will decide our figure. We are only 3,000 below record of 2019 which spiked due to 2018 success.

Yes the style of membership is important and the Ballarat Bullfigs plus Hobart of Tasmanian Roos would be adding 1,000 to 3/4,000 I would think,

Interesting to see apart from 2019 not much net growth at all over a decade, though some volatile increases recently correlating (?) to buzz/results.

Looks like there's a rusted on base, and some may join up then drop off....

Me too!

I have emailed the club 3 times asking for someone to call me about renewing  membership, GF guarantee and pledge per win for me and my father. I also want to sign my first set of twins up as member and have a second set of twins due in April that I want to sign up if possible.

Not heard anything from the club, makes me want to give up ??

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
