It depends who the player is.

Yeah well recent whinging was about TMac and Harmes who were blitzing when signed to long contracts that no-one here complained about at the time.  If they'd only signed for 1 or 2 years there would have benn plenty more whinging.

Small joke to start 2021 sue. The world is a fairly sad place at present.

If the border with WA is still closed will this game happen?

Given the WA premier's approach to risk management of the virus the AFL is running an enormous scheduling risk leaving the two WA teams in Perth.

Qld closed the border to Victoria today and I'm sure WA and SA will follow.

I have no easy solution and I'm sure it's the same at the AFL. Sure you can have bubbles and groupings but no one wants a repeat of the mess of 2020.

FWIW I'd be playing all games in Victoria for say 6 weeks and then move the circus to SA for four weeks, WA for another four and then four weeks in Qld. Final 8 weeks and finals series TBD.  Use country ovals in the relevant State (eg Wangaratta ) for the lesser matches. Sure you run the risk that when the circus is ready to move States that the receiving State will block you but at least the comp continues in the then playing State.

Edit note: Appeared the report on Qld closing the border to Victoria was premature. Qld is formally recommending no visits to Melbourne

sorry I was on a usually very reliable forum (Whirlpool) which appears to be wrong.

The official line is:

Despite holding off introducing border restrictions with Melbourne, Queensland Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young has warned against travel to the southern city.

Dr Young said as a result of the new case in Melbourne, anyone who had been in Melbourne since January 29 should come forward for testing and isolate until they get a negative result.

How come you have not ruled out Melksham he has done very little training also ?

Rosman  a shoe in on the other wing.

forward you'd think if we need him

but coming off an injury- and illness-interrupted preseason, hard to see him being 'match fit' for round 1

Done more training in full match practice than Melksham!!

I know some of the arguments against but I'm wondering whether we look at playing Salem on the opposite wing to Langdon. He's by no means quick but he has really good disposal and it would be nice to have that delivering to the forwards. Perhaps a situation with himself and Rivers rotating in there.

I'm not sold on the idea of Melksham in the midfield, perhaps I'm just scarred by his poor output in 2020.

Line that idea I have picked Salo in my early dude's fir 2021 but lately based on his form determination and the track reports are convinced that Fraser Rosman is advanced enough in his development and also importantly physique. Plays naturally and creates opportunities with run all day.
No point in delaying him if he is ready and earned an opportunity on the wing. Will also add to our marking wherever he plays at 193cm.

However Salem is still a great option fir wing or even half forward with his elite Skills..

Also don't  think we should rule out either Bowery or Laurie for a start up forward wing or even half back using Jake as a Caleb Daniel type.

Plenty of options I MO if the newbies show up in the trial games,

But still like moving Salo further up the ground Pates your idea and mine is a good one. Sales last few games in 2020 were top class in output and impact.

I am actually scared by Melksham being in the side.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
