Thank you Luci or should I say Premiers

Thus far it is 4 of the senior list and 2 of the rookie, correct me if I am wrong. Given that Chandler was emergency for the GF I expect he may go onto the senior list. As I understand it we currently only have 3 draft picks for 3 vacancies if Kade is upgraded. Those picks are 33, 42 & 54 and if he is is still available after pick 20 we may use one on Mac Andrew. I don't see us being very active in the draft.

Brown & Daw are interesting and can choose to go elsewhere having already been delisted once. Smith, Declase and Turner one can hardly assess given the limited opportunities. Might be a quiet trade year for us,

I agree with your assesment of Chandler.
I got a feeling Daw will get a contract, Gawn says he is great to ruck against in training.
Declase and Turner highly rated by choco and all the players love Turner around the club
I hope the club drafts Taj Woewodin

Hope we use 3 picks in the draft (is the rule we have to?).  Taylor has shown he can find talent in the 2nd / 3rd round - as good as Melksham has been for us (particularly) in 2018, I'd rather use another pick than keep him on the list.  He's good enough to play at the top level but doesn't seem to buy into our team first style in the way that we need.

The rule is we need to use at least 3 draft pics which can be  either taking a player from the draft or upgrading a rookie.  We also have pick 91 in round 5 and 109 in round 6 which can be used to upgrade rookies.

We have 4 list spots so we can keep Melksham, upgrade a rookie and take 3 picks to the draft or trade in players.

Jordon will be upgraded - so there is one. Then we have assumably Woewodin and my personal favourite Moniz-Wakefield as the other two :) So no problems there. I'd assume Chandler would be joining the senior list at some point as well.

we can upgrade JJ and KC, keep Melk and still have 3 picks.  that will give us 37 primary and retain our remaining 5 rookies (42 total).  or if 1 of Melk, Hore, Baker or Bedford goes then we can have 4 picks on primary - assuming we dont trade someone in

Update for: Weideman contract to 2023, departure of Vandenberg, Lockhart, Nietschke and Jetta.😢

In a way this is a changing of the guard with the departure of two stalwarts, Jones and Jetta that go back to the dark years.

A reporter mentioned at the weekend that Hibberd will be given a one year extension which is well deserved.

image.png.2b7962ca69b979396547859faa629bd8.png

Not sure what the final allowed list numbers will be for 2022 so the Current List numbers are based on what we had in 2021.

Any errors please let me know and I will pick up with the next update.

you've only got one singular 'Jone' as an out and we still have K.Turner on the rookie list otherwise awesome work LH, also can we get a capital D in McDonald for my ocd please ;)

Apparently Brown has a new contract and so does Baker which is a nice sign. Herald Sun also reporting that Hibberd, Chandler and Bedford are going to be signed as well. AFL reporting Daw is going to get another year. Herald Sun assume that Turner and Declase will get extensions, but Hore and Deakyn Smith will have to wait till after trade period.

I have that as 32 senior spots (I assume that Chandler will be upgraded as well for 33) + 2 rookies (Daw + Brown). So 5-6 senior spots available if we want them.

Glad you keep me on my toes!

I'll make the typo changes with the next update ;-)

I haven't seen an upgrade for Turner from the rookie list - Is there a reference somewhere?

I'm guessing these players in Chandler, Hore, Bedford, Baker, Turner and Declase have been told to wait until the trade period is over before they get contracts?

I can't see us delisting Chandler as he was emergency for the grand final which would mean he's rated fairly highly.

Thanks for all that.  I'll keep an eye on club website and when announced I'll update the table.

On those reports we will have only Dore as Senior list player uncontracted.  Great work by Lamb and Richardson to get so many players signed during the year.

I saw a tweet or something somewhere showing Bedford celebrating re-signing, but haven't seen any confirmation anywhere.

It was in someone’s Insta post. Can’t remember who.

Do we have a definitive list of the numbers who are yet to be contracted at the club at this stage?

Baker, Hore, Bedford, Hibberd on the senior list and Daw, MBrown, Chandler, DSmith, Turner and Declase on the rookie list are yet to be confirmed by the club one way or another

I think Hore is in trouble can't see them delisting D.Smith.

This has the updates for:

  • Mitch Brown 1 year Rookie contract
  • Recruitment of Luke Dunstan for 2 years
  • List and Draft details

Posters have noted above some players have been offered contracts but not yet confirmed by the club.  These are shown in green.

image.png.c84639f7dfed73445e6f5fcde8bd0f17.png

An important thing to note are the List size Rules at the bottom.  The overall allowed is 37 to 42 comprised of 36 to 38 Senior spots and 4-6 'A' Rookie spots.  In addition 2 'B' Rookie spots can be added for 44.

As we currently have the max allowed 6 'A' Rookie we have only 2 Senior list spots for a total of 40.   More list spots become available if those rumoured to not have a contract, Hore, Smith and Chandler were to depart.

However, we currently have 5 live draft picks.  Pick 94 will go to upgrade Jordan.  He was contracted for 2 years in April but we still need to use a draft pick to officiate he being a Senior player.

This leaves us with 17, 37, 49, and 57.  These picks may well change and/or 37, 49 and 57 are used for Woewodin and our NGA players.  If so, we will need to free up more list spots.

Will add Dunstan to the list of 'Ins' with the next update.

I think with today's signings, Declase and Hore are the only players left without a contract for 2022.

Yes agree they seem to have missed out. Declase looked a good prospect. Hore very very unlucky if he’s missed out. Excellent 2019 then two years of injuries.   That would be cruel to delist him but AFL Footy is like that nowadays.

Hi Premiers, Might have missed something but I believe I counted (not including Hore or Declase) 34 senior listed players and 4 rookies. The MFC article refers to four players being retained on the rookie list: M.Brown, Daw, Turner and D.Smith. K.Chandler appears to be getting upgraded to the senior list.

Current rules are between 36-38 on the senior list and 4-6 Category A  and 2 Category B rookies.

Based on this we have a couple of different options: sign up to 4 senior players (ie. 4 players in the draft), but technically we only need to add two players to the list, 1 required through the draft given Chandler and J.Jordon are both being upgraded.

Updated for today's signings:

  • Baker and Bedford as senior players.
  • Chandler, Turner, D. Smith, Daw as Rookies.

All have been assumed to be for one year.  The club's announcement is a little vague.  If anyone has seen other official info on the above please let me know.

image.png.e4f2053a8ec1c5e52c8d28ec9edadeca.png

This leaves Hore, Declase and Hibberd as unsigned altho it is reported that Hibberd has been offered a one year deal.

On what I could find, today's signings don't change the List numbers or mix.  We have 34 senior players and 6 A Rookies for a total of 40.  The max allowed across those two categories is 42 so we have two (Senior) vacancies.  To open more vacancies we would need to lose Declase or Hore.

Thanks BMj.

Not sure if I'm reading your post correctly.

I'm still including Hore and Declase as they are officially still on our list.  The mfc announcement is a bit vague on Chandler's status but for now have included him as a Rookie.  So I make our count:  34 Senior players and 6 A Rookies.

As an aside, B Rookies are additional to the max total allowed of 42.  We can't substitute a senior or A rookie player for B rookies.  So at this stage our total will be 42.

Unless we move on Hore and Declase we have only 2 senior list spots and zero A Rookie spots.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
