Something is up?

He’s on with his wife. She’s reading him comments from Demonland so he can figure out who to take next.

[censored] me dead. Righto that’s me done for the night.

Not thrilled with our picks, but let’s see how they go. Good to get elite kicks in!

I think for balance, Rosman might be the more desired path now.

Nice call ??

Pick 34 - Sarah Jones in that white dress

Carroll is this year's Young. The Demonland consensus pick never gets chosen.

No speed. If you don't have speed clubs don't want you. Richmond have shown why. Of course we can only manage to find half quick little fellas but at least it's a step in the right direction.

He's also clearly an astute observer of U18 footy as well with his commentary leading up to the draft

Will we use our 4th pick?

Good question, can't see us getting much future currency for pick 50. Do we leave two spots open for the SPP and mid-year rookie draft... Carroll sliding massively. Maybe there's issues there.

Absolute rubbish. I was listening to a podcast on a different sport, just happened to be about drafting and holds true for all sports.

”So what is the science or art about trading up or down for a player you want?”

”Its a little bit of art and a lot of knowledge, I know 95% of the recruiting staff from every other team, if I have a player I like I’ll go to a number of games to watch him (sometimes 20+ games) and also to watch who else is watching him.
I’ll see xx club or xx clubs in attendance. We’ll also the ask him who has shown the most interest.. then with that info we get a bead on which clubs are keen. We then look at the draft order and his potential drafting position and make a call from there. If we believe we can stay put, move up or move down. One thing we can’t control is any info that comes from his network (agent or family).”

He played 1 practice game this year. One of our directors used to coach him. There wasn't any need to repeatedly interview him or let anyone know we were interested. It wasn't like it was just Holmes we were linked to either. Laurie and Bowey were both heavily linked to us.

Jason Taylor even does a Melbourne media hit the night before the draft stating his desire for outside run and skills.

I haven't experienced waterboarding but I suspect it would be more enjoyable than reading your one point repackaged into 5 or 6 posts. We get it. You're not happy...again.

Waterboarding might get it through your thick head.

Melbourne = dumb club = lose a lot of games.

Smart club = no leaks, run misdirection, sneaky, get their picks = win games.

I'll be happy when we stop doing stupid things.

194cm wingman. Small fwd and I think a Half back. I back in JT after last year.

To be fair it was fairly obvious we needed outside run!

Carroll is Gawn

Feel for that O’Driscoll kid. His highlights were pretty bad. Surely he did some good stuff?

He looked terrible.

trading it out for a pick next year.

Does this mean we're done?

I hope so, I can go to bed

Or our pick 89 might have come into the late 50's..... yeah we done

The interesting thing from my perspective is that the club has chosen three Victorians who played very little football this year so we’re comparing players from interstate with exposed Under 18 form to exposed Victorian Under 17 form. The theory is that there’s more upside with these players in terms of added development.

Naturally, only time will tell.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

  • PREGAME: St. Kilda

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

  • REPORT: Richmond

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.

The Dees ran another clinic for the second week in a row as they easily accounted for the Tigers in the lightning interrupted shortened match at Mars Stadium in Ballarat.

Kozzy Pickett was the man of the match last week and has a vote lead over backup ruck Max Heath who didn't play this week and 5 votes over former Saint Jack Steele. Who gets the votes in this weeks shortened match win over the Tigers? Your votes please. 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 & 1.

It's Game Day and the 2026 AFL Premiership season is almost upon us as the Demons take to the field for their final practice match before the first ball is kicked in anger in 16 days time. What are you expecting to see from the Dees today as they take on the Tigers at Mars Stadium in Ballarat?
