Clearly missing the context.

On your way.

He's young and developing, I liked some of the things he did and he could well eventually take Jetta's role as the small defender permanently. For now he's in a bit of a battle to get a spot in the team.

Is Bedford getting a new deal? I think another year for the youngster.  Still raw and developing.  I think putting him and Pickett together for a few games might be handy and create some chaos and pressure for opposition defenders.

Only played the 2 games and looked lightweight. He needs to play a run of games to find out if he has it or not. No point taking up a list spot and not giving him a proper run. Ditto Baker.

Why go D/L ers continually invent players to take Jay Lockhart's natural BP position or small defenders role???

We have him learning and providing run and carry and courage but our Coach somehow lost faith in Jay  about 5 games out In 2020.

More games into Locky would have him even further advanced for 2021 and we can experiment with potential Forward  crumbers with pace where we need more of a lift.

I am all for experimenting ( want Salem up forward or wing at least) but Goody won't change his mind ( Harmes) once he gets it into his Th..k head !!!
Looks as though Beddy will get at least another year to develop hopefully with Yze in his corner as a HF flanker.

I would give him a one year deal,. He will be a third year player who was initially light and speculative. He has great speed and endurance and plays a role which we lack depth in. He just needs to put on a bit of muscle, clean up his kicking and build his confidence, Whilst he did not do much in his two games he showed glimpses of quality defensive pressure.  I particularly recall a defensive play that used his speed that got the ball to Koz.

Haha I’m going to confess being a complete tool here, I mixed up Locky and Bedo! I agree HF is Bedfords best position.

At least the “young and developing” part was right. ?‍♂️

I was optimistic after his preseason and even Round 1 performance.
Not so sure now.

Struggles to find the ball and isn't damaging enough when he does.
Kinda needs to be one or the other.

concerning for him that he's our only OOC player atm according to mitch cleary on afl.com.au's latest update

This is arguably the silliest comment ever posted in Demonland.

Disagree, It's the silliest comment ever made, by anyone.

That late goal multiple assist in Perth, where young Bedford followed up his kick into the forward 50, gained possession of the loose ball, with big boy McGovern steaming in, was full of merit. The No. 12 than stepped away with almost casual aplomb, leaving a perplexed McGovern in his dust. Kossie received a well directed handball to score his second goal on debut.

His second call up in Cairns, amid the flotsam of the truncated fast finishing final rounds of the season. Was as forgettable as the whole team performance. Down the plug hole, as the goodship SS Simon (and crew) foundered in the tropical maelstrom at Cazaly stadium.

As 2020 recedes far into the rear view mirror universe. All is forgiven!

May Toby move on up in season 2021, as he and  the other young rookies deserve to be retained, as their development was very much afflicted by covidus footballus interuptus XXXX.

Where will you play ANB another coaches favourite?

Assuming everyone is fit and firing Casey, however if Nibbler is getting games then the HFF would probably be his position. I could see him being used in a defensive role on oppo HBF, he’s not a bad tackler and has the tank to go with most players.

I'm not an ANB fan (except for in 2018) but he did actually play pretty well in the last couple of games and kicked some ripper goals.

I'm OK for him be on the list.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
