Go the mighty Storm

Bellamy is a legend. Loved his anger when his players got lazy and went soft and dropped intensity.  He asks for 100% all the time and deserves it.

Did it for Victoria.  Love the connection to the fans.

Culture is amazing. You don’t get the guernsey unless you put in.

Lessons for our Dees

They’re fun to watch, NRL with the 6 again rule is becoming more esxcitinf than AFL.

Bellamy is the antithesis of Goody in how he reacts game day. Booting a chair across the box into a wall with 5 mins to go, screaming and swearing, so invested.

Bellamy could sense the Storm were fading a bit, he rightly wasn’t taking anything for granted.

What a cool and composed leader Cam Smith is, composure under pressure is something we have lacked at the Demons for a very long time.

That was excellent viewing for the casual. Thought the Storm made some excellent match winning plays, especially that leap by the full back to save that penalty kick from going out. Don't think I've ever seen that. Penrith seemed like a team that can score quickly when given a sniff and they charged home hard.

Get Craig Bellamy as MFC coach. Get their kicking coach while at it.

What a club, what an inspirational organisation.

Gus Gould. An absolute ornament to unbiased commentary.

EAD [censored] wit. ??

Pap's done that before...

Storm, brilliant...they've been away the whole season, their competition got to stay home and sleep in their own beds.

It was a monumental Premiership win.

Cam Smith the best on ground leader (Captain) I've seen in Australian sport.

It's a beautiful thing. They absolutely despise the Storm and Gus is not alone. One of the greatest teams in the history of their sport and they hate it.

What they have achieved this year being away from home for 5 months when most other teams slept in their own beds is truly amazing.

Won't get acknowledged in Sydney though,  they'll be talking only about Origin by tomorrow night.

6 premierships in 22 years. 4 runners up. And the Sydney media and channel 9 commentators hate them.

As EJ would say, “We stuck it up em”. !!

GO THE MIGHTY STORM PREMIERS AGAIN!

Papenhauzen is a gun should be number 1 for NSW he won't be because of Tedesco but he should be.

Cam.Smith the most inspirational skipper of all time.

It will be harder to win next year due to Ado-Carr, Tino and Vunivalu leaving but we get Grant an Origin rep back hopefully we go back to back.

Funny, I really enjoy listening to the toad Gould and Johns. They don’t go over the top, they’re incredibly honest (the bunker has no idea about the rules of the game) and they are very tactically aware.
They chit all over Taylor, Bruce and co.

Really?? That's incredible! My Rugby background is much more to the Union side but I'm sure its the same that you expect those kicks from penalties to just sail into touch while they organise their defence. Amazing stuff.

Sensational from Smith absolute legend. If he bows out now that's a glittering career.

The bile from those commentators was as big as Sydney harbour. Gus Gould sounded like he was commentating live from a funeral.

Without a doubt, best club out of A league AFL and NRL. Suck it up NSW

My knowledge of Rugby League is extremely limited but even I could tell that the commentator who said that the Panthers should be leading when they were 26-0 down was dreaming.

Sure made me laugh...that was Gus.

He is a Penrith premiership coach, so no bias there.

The decision that went against Storm to kick start the Panthers back into the game must have been an absolute howler from the video ref as even with the bias none of the commentators thought it was a try. In fact they couldn't believe it.

I reckon the Vic hater that runs the comp must have called it to get the game back up and running, the product was looking pretty ordinary up until then.

as a nswelshman, everyone respects the storm organisation. so this whole 'everyone is against us, no one thought we could do it' rubbish is, well, rubbish. very essendon/pies.

the reason everyone has hated the storm was all the maroons in their team. now its full of kiwis and other pacific islanders..and blues, the hatred is less.

cameron smith is a dirty, time-wasting, no-good hack. he has skills, but is very over-rated. see how he dealt with the incident where alex mckinnon lost the use of his legs during a game. not an apology.

I realise that as most of the dees on here will support the storm (if they care at all about 'the rugby') i will get feedback on this, but it is true.

Yes i always wondered why Smith never said anything about that incident.
I don’t know enough about the game to know whether they had history or not

Sorry but Gould is the biggest POS commentator on Australian television.

i am pretty sure they didn't.. of course it wasn't his fault (the incident) but he should have come out and apologised/addressed it. maybe it was because he was a lot younger and bit more stubborn, but he's certainly not perfect and certainly not 'the greatest ever'. but aside from that, he did speak really well after the game last night. not perfect, but who is?

I thought he addressed it weeks later, but i don’t know for sure. I remember Listening to Kevin Bartlett interviewing Cam Smith on SEN about it ( I think there was a Match played for Alex to raise money for him) i don’t recall Cameron Smith being arrogant. But it may well have been different in the Sydney Media

(I have a disability so i pricked up my ears when it was being discussed)

4 premierships. Other 2 never happened. Still ****ty Parra got cheated out of winning in 2009.

ahh, i never saw anything come out from him.. i live in melbourne btw, but have a solid grounding in league. the culture is very different to afl.

and i work in disability support, so it really bothered me, apart from just being a really ****ty thing for him to have done at the time. but look, like i said, we all make mistakes and this was just really public. i just don't like the way he niggles and wastes time and 'manages the game' with the ref, etc.. but he is smart. definitely has a football brain. i wouldn't argue against that.

geez, the panthers nearly had them at the end.. i have never in my life seen a side turn down a goal attempt either.. such a strange game?!

Storm were 2 men down near the end

They had used a lotta petrol.
Timed to perfection

On Smith, i just think he plays the Captain’s Roll very strongly. He is always watching out for his Teammates

I wish MFC Captains were more like that.
Carl Ditterich comes to mind

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

  • PREGAME: Richmond

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
