Love it. Thanks mate. If we manage to hold onto Burgess and get a couple of other credentialed assistants across alongside Yze - together with the proposed player ins and outs (plus the junior Macrae!) - then I think it will be an extremely solid no-fuss off-season considering the chips we have at our disposal. Would love another small pressure forward as well though. Appreciate the update.

OUT
TMac - All depends on medicals (ankle injury). Player and club want the change, opposition interest will determine it.
ANB - Apparently some interest from the Crows. Not a lot of noise tho, but tbf he's not an exciting player to talk about.
Preuss - Melbourne will try and do a deal to see them go up the draft order. Very keen on Macrae, who they think will be available at pick 9 (which coincidentally is likely the compo pick GWS will get for Williams).
Coaches - Plapp and Mathews gone. Very likely more to follow them.
Admin - Told earlier in the year Mahoney is likely gone. Haven't heard anything lately though. Richardson talked about as a potential replacement for him. Very very sketchy at this stage so don't bank on this one, but not sure Bartlett is 100% safe either.
Other - Still think Burgess will leave (hoping he doesn't of course).

IN
B.Brown - Pending physical, which will determine the club's interest and offer which likely then determines Brown's decision. 2nd round pick to North and a 3 year deal on 500k for Brown is the price. I know some here have talked about his nature/personality, but apparently after the zoom meeting Max was absolutely sold on him.
I.Smith - Very likely, but not a done deal yet.
Saints Player - Told we were chasing a 'young, quick' Saints player. Others here posted they heard Hind was being mentioned, so could be him, potentially could be Long.
Coaches - Leppitsch has been approached, ball totally in his court. Another former Lion also approached to get involved with the club in some capacity too (not Voss). 2 other highly rated assistants in the pipeline, but promised I wouldn't say.

Any idea what we would have to give up (along with Pruess), for pick 9? Would be very happy if we could draft Macrae.

Also - any idea how the club sees this one getting done? Seems a stretch at this stage. I'm in the mid-to-late-second-round camp for Preuss (would prefer if he stayed though), but not sure how a 23 and ~30ish gets us to pick 9. Future first and 23 is even pushing it.

Maybe TMac in the equation with Preuss to GWS? Probably not enough to snare 9 on its own, but would move us closer to it.

Tomald and Braydon seem like a serious odd couple. Would reality TV watch that.

I think both players and a future pick (2nd round) could do it. Giants will have picks coming out the behind with all the trade and compensation they'll be getting.

The rumour I heard was Preuss and pick 23 for pick 9. Didn't get much clarity though so gut feel is that would be the opening offer from the Dees.

Last year the word on Langdon and Tomlinson was consistent and strong and we got them.

This year it seems to be more of 'when the lights come back on see who is sitting in our chair'?

More likely to be Preuss & 2021 first rounder

Why would we want another medium sized midfielder who hunts the ball?

As it is we are playing Harmes and Brayshaw out of position and we have others waiting in the wings:  Sparrow, Jordan etc.

Have we not learnt our lesson yet

I don't know much about potential draftees tbh. I think I remember reading somewhere he has good speed, is a good kick and can hit the scoreboard though, so that would be handy? Someone like @dazzledavey36knows way way more about draftees than me.

Isn’t he more of an outside mid?

Let's get real and breakdown mail from rumours.

Out's

Preuss - GWS request, Player has requested. It has been suggested that his going price will be a late 30's, early 40's pick

McDonald T - likely staying unless a good deal comes for him, Rumour only

ANB - trade bait but heard nothing specific, Rumour only

Hannan - WB interest, Rumour only

Jetta - coll interest, Rumour only

In's?

B Brown - apparently we are frontrunners. Some rumours suggesting that Collingwood are very interested and so is he.

I Smith - apparently likely to come. Reported that we have interest but so too do the Cat's.

T Phillips - no link to dees that ive heard. Damien Barrett stated that: 'A left footed wingman. That's what the Demons want, and two have the bait in front of them: Isaac Smith and Tom Phillips.'

N Hind - rumour. Agreed.

C Hooker - read that he could seek a move possibly to Melbourne. First I've heard of it.

Rumour about Hannan was on the money, he's requested a trade home to Dogland.

Haven't seen that in the pre draft briefs I've read but he could be.

Judging by his highlights. He plays very similar to his brother, but at AFL level will be more suited to the wing given he's smaller, FWIW. Looks to be able to break the lines.

If we give up 23, how do we get Brown?

Just guessing, but maybe a future 2nd rounder, or a pick we get back via trade/s or potentially even trades and pick swaps as it seems like a complicated year for the draft points system etc.

Surely the only decent pick we might have coming back via trades would be for Tommy Mac? Presumably GWS will have a ***load of picks coming back from their mass exodus, perhaps they'll be more inclined to sprinkle a little of that fairy dust our way.

They won't give away pick 9 for Preuss and 23. No way that is happening.

Maybe. It's possible there will still be a surprise or two in trade period, just a hunch.

I'm more wondering if we can use the points system to our advantage given we're likely to have a density of picks between say 30-50 through a combo of our existing picks and trades. There's also future pick trading that could happen.

Kangas offered Brown 750 4 year deal,  a year ago. Value him about half that now for their own reasons, some to do with off field but not the usual bad behaviour, drugs, booze etc. Club politics being one.

Could it be as simple as the Roos are culling the list of players that won’t be a part of their next finals campaign? A full blown rebuild.

Yeah, real bugger. Was hoping we'd land him as midfield coach.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
