Gary Lyon 10 goal final, wow we need a forward badly

Got to love those hard leads, soft hands and long straight kicks.

What is amazing is that only a couple of those marks were contested, he was just getting that much separation.

The full match is on YouTube.

So many great players in that line-up.

A good key forward that can kick multiple goals is worth his weight in gold. Every goal that they kick is worth double because they demand the ball and become a focal point that bring others into the game.

Todd Viney's 2 left foot passes lace out were superb to Lyon in the 94 Prelim  they were his best 2 passes that he made in his footy career. He wasn't the best at kicks however he was hard as nails just like Jack.

Tingay,  Martin Pike,  Lovell, Brett Lovett,  Shcwarz  Lyon, .Stynes,   Neitz The Febey's Todd Viney some of the players that were playing in the 94 Preliminary Final. All fine player that would get a game in now days.

We should have won that flag, from that moment I have always hated west coast the most

One of my favourite footy memories being at that game.
He would have got 13 if he played the last quarter.

the  best demons team I’ve seen.

This will be Fritschy boy's average game once Yze gets in his ear re where the goals are

10 in 3 qtrs!! oppo wasn't at their best,  but he and the team made them look silly. He was lovely footballer to watch, he would be a perfect footballer in 2020.

That era we could have been anything. Stars everywhere you looked, so many good players running through the midfield - Lovett x 2, Stinga, Obst, Viney, The Febeys and Jimmy. Lyon and The Ox up forward.

They really sucked me in to loving this club.

first time seeing this. Apart from the goals the delivery to Lyons was very good. If only we could provide that kind of service to our forwards today!

Was a great game to be at, until the Ox knocked himself out

Lyon was magnificent, rested in the last Quarter

I did Sarge n you beat me to it!?

Yep, so many players, weren't there! Jacko gave my kids a twinkle of interest but Stinga finally sold them on the Dees. They've regretted it pretty much ever since, mind you...?

It was a good team in 94' but disagree with those saying we should have won the flag that year. We were wildly inconsistent after the first 5 weeks of the season and only came 7th after the Ox booted 9 in the final round. We even lost to the Swans mid season at the G when they were on some sort of an all time losing streak! Though we played some great footy in the finals.

98 is the year that got away from us IMO. White at Stynes combo in the ruck, forward line of Lyon, Neitz, Schwarz, Farmer and Shaun Smith in the reserves. Shanahan and Ingerson holding down the key back spots with a midfield of Viney, Tingay, Yze, Leonceli, Rigoni and young guns coming through like Woewodin, Robbo, Johnstone, McDonald and Brown. Then started the finals by belting the previous years Grand Finalists by 50 points each in consecutive weeks.

That's the one that got away from us!

Yeah I agree with this 98 for sure was the one that got away.
In 94 the Eagles were the best side that year by far.

Yep. 1994 - the best team I've seen too. If only.... Makes me cry to look at the talent and know we got beaten by the WA State of Origin team.

And we forget too easily the brilliance and leadership of Garry Lyon.
