Just mentioned on footy classified that Clayton Oliver is apparently not happy at Melbourne and Carlton supporter Sam McClure was trying to instigate a move to Carlton.

If nothing is happening, why start this thread??????

Just saw this. What's this all about then?

I heard a 3 second snippet of Mcclure talking about Merrett, "Zac Merrett, like Clayton Oliver" (implying he's not sure of the direction of the club, or something to that effect). That's literally all I saw - does anyone have the full snippet, or quote?

Not sure. Came from nowhere.

Worth also noting that they did confirm with the club that Clayton was not going anywhere.

Clips here where Oliver gets a mention - I don't know if Oliver was mentioned before or after this snippet as I wasn't watching the show, or whether his name was simply dropped.

Someone on another site said McClure said Oliver not happy (or words to that effect)

just sh/t stirring or a case of smoke indicating fire?

I saw a very interesting interview with Oliver either early this year or last year.  He talked a lot about how he doesn't like changing things and how settled he is at the club.  He has his routine, he comes in on his days off and works out in his gym on his machines etc.  The overriding impression I got was of someone who doesn't like changing things and had pretty much grown roots where he was.  I really don't see him wanting to leave.

Locked away contract wise (much like Zac Merrett...for now), so we have the leverage, but we'd want to make sure Clayton's happy before that gets close to expiry.

If he is supposedly not happy where the direction of the club then of course he'll entertain the idea of leaving.

Yeah look i must admit watching the BnF tonight, you couldnt find a more flat and unhappy looking bunch of blokes..

Something doesn't feel right...

As I said the other day, we should be putting a 4 year contract extension to Clarry this off season and putting a similar deal in front of Trac too.

Multiple threads, but will put it here too: Carlton made an approach to Melbourne about Oliver, it was obviously not even considered. The 'unhappy' part I think might be made up.

It is understandable and I agree with him if it is the case. I don’t believe in the game plan and on field structure/set up either... If I was a player I would be looking elsewhere as well! Don’t blame him. Need a change at coach and footy department ASAP!

But Sam McClure made it very clear he is contracted and will be playing for Melbourne 2021.

I'm more concerned about years 2022 through 2030!!

I thought the same, Daz - but could be for a number of reasons:

1. BNF assembled quickly and held during the day, after exit interviews - no atmosphere.

2. Boys genuinely p!ssed off after season fizzled out.

3. Something is up.

Perty was doing his salesman act, but it looked like a place where [censored] had gone down moments before - maybe big clear out of coaching staff, as others have alluded to?

He is very close mates with Trac and Salem, can’t see him leaving

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
