FWIW . . . a close source to the GWS with absolutely first-hand knowledge of tensions inside the club told me a few weeks ago:

  • that Coniglio virtually demanded the captaincy to re-sign with the club,
  • that he had to be made stand-alone captain, and
  • others, including former captain Phil Davis, were not too impressed.

There are issues and tensions internally that could quite well be effecting on-field performance quite significantly.

The source also said that as far as they knew, the players had no issues with Cameron being re-appointed coach for a further two years.

Has anyone considered the possibility that making the finals could be a bad long-term result for us?

Never. Young players need finals experience before they know what to prepare for. Even if we go out in the first game it's a positive.

No because making them has never been a 'good' long-term result either QB

It is what it is people. All we can do is beat the Bombers by even a point and wait for Sunday to see if Freo can give us a miracle. Yes I would be happy to play the Eagles in Perth. At least we are in a final and anything can happen on the day. Before that we need to win and Freo to win. Go Dees and Dockers.

To everyone here on Demonland. We were lucky we played GWS at the right time when they are playing poorly. We were scheduled to play GWS 2nd round. Day before we played Essendon game gets cancelled. We are playing against Essendon at the right time. There is still hope for us. We need more luck to go our way. Time will tell

Really appreciate the enthusiasm. Wish I could share it, still a glimmer but it doesn't look great. Hope Taberner kicks 5.

How? It's not like we are getting a better pick finishing out side the 8.

Finals experience is super important and I would like to see rivers, Jacko and kossie get some in their first year

For me personally no. If we do play West Coast. Josh Kennedy may not play in the first final. We have the majority of our players coming back from injuries other than Angus Brayshaw. Remember when we beat West Coast in 1998 in Perth. Anything is possible.

Heard this late last year when I bumped into a a albury lad I knew through my work with the Murray Bushrangers, who's on their playing list.

At the time I didn't think much off it. It only came up when i asked him about the change of captaincy and his thoughts on it.

Interesting though.

Yeah exactly, this is always my attitude. Getting finals experience into our boys. I also believe you build success on success and the confidence comes when you reach those next levels. The upside to making it far outweighs missing it.

If we win on Saturday against Essendon. I'm sure every Melbourne supporter will be glued watching the Fremantle go for the win. A intriguing weekend of football awaits us.

I won't be watching the news at that time that is for sure

Is there any thing else to do?  Oh ! YES YES YES.

At the curfew  9.00pm  l will go to the local  7- Eleven  and buy a $1652  coffee. To celebrate!

Well we are done. No chance Freo can beat the in form dogs.

I’m trying not to think how TF did we lose to the swans but it’s tough

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
