I would have thought the goal umpire was in the best position to make the call and not Cornes from his lounge room.

Just imagine if we actually had an ethical media that relied on honesty and .......god forbid ........... facts

outrageous comment by you, ethan. you should be ashamed, kane was an ornament of the game and you treat him like this!

It’s not as if the Goal Umpire was staring off into the Red Desert.

Perfect Position and Concentrating on the ball, but no Kane had a better view...

Why is there no Media Attention to Tracc not being paid the Mark?

Not one if them has mentioned that at all, that i have heard.

still disappointed no-one in the media (that i know of) has discussed the mark not being paid nor the free kick

anyone know if it has been raised?

The bounce into goal was also pretty delightful. The joys of an oval ball, or as my dad would call it “Sherrin-dipity”.

Even if it was judged a point there is no guarantee they would have got the next goal.  It would have been a kick-in instead of a centre bounce.

We defended the kick-ins very well.  They spent a lot of the game switching back and forth in our i50 so there is every chance we would have locked it in or kicked a goal ourselves and we still would have won.

There was six minutes to go with any number of outcomes if it had been a point.  It wasn't.  We won.  End of story!

Commentators saying we escaped with a lucky goal are being disingenuous.

Indeed ... it would have brought about a completely different series of events. Who knows what that would have been.

In any event, Petracca freakin marked the ball, or at the very least should have been awarded a free kick. (ALA free kick to Membrey awarded against Viney.)

Kane Cornes . . .

  • Doesn’t understand the laws of the game
  • Obsessed with his own image
  • Has a cross hanging in the background
  • Doesn’t watch the games he comments on
  • Contradicts himself every week
  • Vacuous, fatuous and asinine . . . sprouts out the last thought that crosses his mind
  • Complete and absolutely no idea of the 2020 game and the way it’s played

What's that got to do with anything?

I wonder how this conversation would have gone if it was overturned and called a point.

We likely would have lost the game and then.......

I wonder how this conversation would have gone if it had been a St Kilda player kicking the "goal" and a Melbourne player touched it. (With added touch of irony that Petracca could have easily been that St Kilda player)

Laughingly this morning on SEN Kane Corness admitted the umpire was in a perfect psootion and then went on

"...but from where I was sitting it looked touched to me..."

From his couch in his Adelaide loungeroom.

This has to win some sort of media quote award this year surely?

Oh, how I miss Kevin Bartlett and his "Goose of the Week". Cornes would be like Meryl Streep and bore everyone stupid by winning it EVERY week.

2 12yo kids with mobile phones taped to the goal posts could do better.

Love the mental picture of this. Beautiful work. Get it done I say!?

AFL now 'fixes' the problem. Good stuff.

Can't wait till we find out there was a missing pointpost at the Gabba this week after a would be winning point was given out of bounds.

From where i was sitting it looked like it was touched to me too, but i was scratching my a##, and picking my nose, so who gives a sh@@...

Disagree.

Cornes was speaking to a Saints supporter on the phone, who was at the game and sitting in the forward pocket, side on to the goal line and she said it was touched.

Not only that, but when Cornes saw it on TV, he was sitting in his lounge room,, side on to the goal line, so he had a great view.

Lastly the goal umpire was also too close to the ball and the goal line and was distracted by the girl speaking to Cornes, who yelled out it was touched.

I think I have too much time on my hands, writing this rubbish, but it fits in well with some of the media comments on the issue.

Please start writing fantasy novels you would be a winner with them.

Oh and get Kane Cornes to do the launch and forward of your book!!!!

Whole lot of  rubbish Drummed is because there was no camera.

120 years of Footy goals have been judged by this way so big deal!!!

Karma for Dees  after that  field umpire's decision in last minute of Lions loss !!!

I say we deem it touched just to annoy all the saints supporters and the maggot that didnt award Trac the mark in the first place.

Can we please change the title of this thread - hopefully Tracc will kick many more goals! ?

I’m amused that all the media fuss acts like we were behind before that goal was kicked. Even if it was a point the odds would have been with us to win.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
