Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I know this sound critical but when we swing the team changes and we bring in Wagner it hardly instill confidence. We then drop our leading goal kicker for sleeping in. Seriously is it only me that this reason doesn’t stack up. Just fill mean with trepidation about today!

Right now, well before game time, I feel as if I was condemned fifty years ago, locked up in a cell and now, the rope of the adjacent scaffold has my name on it in three hours.

I stocked up on Campbells Of Rutherglen Topaque this morning.

Ratten v Goodwin does not fill me with confidence. Maybe the Topaque will!

The contrarian in me is quite buoyed by the universal pessimism on Demonland, this beautiful almost Spring day in Melbourne.

Classic boil over ingredients are in place.

Too much focus on Wagner and too little on Gawn and Jones.

Looking forward to tonights game.

Go Demons.

I like your optimism glass half full. The days where I got enthused about Jonesy are well gone. Watching him run around in losing teams for 15 years does that to you. But Maxie on the other hand does enhance our chances.

I have no confidence at all.

In theory, we can win this. That theory is that our midfield gets on top, our forwards make the most of St Kilda's relatively poor backline, and our zone returns to what it was prior to last week.

If we can get the game played in our forward half and we ramp up the brutality around the contest, we can win.

But reality suggests we'll either lose in the middle, or turn it over in our forward line, and watch them burst away from our turnovers with pace that we cannot match, with an open forward line (because we'll be pushing up the ground) and goals out the back left right and centre.

I think that's what gets me the most. Not necessarily the sinking feeling that we'll lose, but the feeling that I can predict precisely how this game is going to play out.

PS: our season doesn't end with a loss (unless we shed too much percentage). A final four of Sydney, Fremantle, GWS and Essendon presents us with a solid chance to go 3-1 and get us to 9 wins at worst. IMO, our season is set up beautifully with a win, but we're not done with a loss.

We will still be a mathematical chance. You know your in trouble when it get to that.

And just how good was Chris Scotts game day coaching. masterclass in mid-game issues management

a decade worth of senior coaching experience

it also helps that the cats have so many experienced players out there on the park - they were apparently talking at 3/4 time about how it was 'win every quarter by two goals and we'll be back'

i don't like the cats, but they are super organised, super professional

Feeling of dread building, thinking 3-4 goal loss pre to team selection, post thinking as ugly as ten. Richo highlights speed so we go:

Gawn for Preuss - Max quicker

Brown for TMac - haven’t seen Brown play this year, but anyone quicker than TMac

Rivers vs Harmes - Rivers slightly quicker

J Wagner vs Lockhart- speed similar, J Wagner decision making awful & slow

Jones vs Sparrow - Jones very slow

OMac vs Fritsch - slow slow slow

When I way it all up team definitely a little bit slower, when I’m thinking we should definitely have picked quicker team, why none of Bedford, Hunt or Smith given a go, I’m not sure. Also as quite a few people have highlighted Lockhart has been solid, why drop him when Saints have Butler, I don’t understand!

Anyway I’m expecting to lose by 6-8 goals on reflection, really hope I’m wrong in this weird season, Saints are probably due a stutter, having lost to North & Freo having been well up in both, but you never know!!

Go Demons, and while I’ve hardly had a drink during lockdown, a few cans will definitely be required to settle pre match nerves!

Go Demons!!

I actually have a good feeling about this game. Saints by 64.

It's my birthday this week... which means nothing is surer than a loss.

Saints by 40 points or one point after the siren.

Often, I wish this team would play with the same gut-burning passion and desire that we all have. Today, I’m hoping that they don’t play as flat as we all currently feel ?

In theory, communism works too.

Look, we absolutely can win this. Surely Oliver and Trac won't have 2 poor games in a row. Gawn back at least means we can get some first use in the ruck, and you'd think May should ensure that Membery doesn't kick his usual bag.

But, all things being equal, I expect them to kill us on the spread, make our turnovers really hurt, and drive a lot of play off their half backline with speed. Ratten is a very smart coach. My confidence in our coaching team is not strong.

Will I be shocked if we win? No. Will I be shocked if we lose? Also no.

We have good support in communities like Nyrripi and Imanpa, as the play as the Demons (I have Imanpa Demons tracksuit pants) both though over 200km from Alice, so hard for them to attend games

200 km in the NT is like next door!

Port and Crows have alot of fans from remote communities who attend Alice games. Possibly from APY lands.

The Nyirripi Road is a rough one, the mob there travelled in on Monday by bus to go to tonight’s game, bus home is tomorrow, there is only one bus a week.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
