They had 20 scoring shots we had 17. We missed a lot of easy shots, some were carried off by the wind, others the wind died as we kicked, allowing for the wind. All the BS and hand wringing is nonsense. We could have won if we’d have kicked straight. All the rest is rubbish. And have a look at the Doggies last few games where they missed multiple goals. But why o why didn’t we tag Bontempelli?

Same old same old when it comes to a loss unfortunately:

G.Lyon - excruciatingly barracking I mean commenting, rate him highly, very highly actually but feel his frustration while commentating MFC games, makes it harder to watch. 
 

overuse of handball around centre clearance work. Costly turnovers. 
 

lack of forward pressure. 
 

lack of team defense/ work rate / pressure. 
 

major convo around MFC, need more balance / different types in the midfield, glaringly obvious this afternoon when you see bulldogs mix, we won’t be a complete team till this happens

Why do you need a director of coaching to stand next to you in the box and tell you not to make any changes in a game?

And this happens how often. In most games unless the opposition midfield is asleep. Biggest problem at the club.

Until the midfield group take the responsibility to commit themselves to 100% effort in every game results like today will continue to occur.

It all comes back to skills, we just cant keep the football and if you cant keep the football and turn it over the way we do you have no chance to defend.

It is the same players making same mistakes.  The highlights of this year hsd been May, Weiderman, Jackson, Langdon, Pickett and Petracca, most are fresh faces to our club, weid and May we didnt see much of in 2019.  Need to see more fresh faces, we know what we get with most of the guys that played today lets see what else is on our list

Oddly what you say is correct yet you know if you watched the game we were outplayed for 3 of 4 quarters. And that is the worry, we were lucky not to be blown away, thanks to May, Lever and Tomlinson perhaps. We do have strengths and the ability to string together some great play but if we don’t totally dominate the midfield we are vulnerable to a good running side.

It’s so hard to watch and happens so often.... and hasn’t changed for a few years now. It probably won’t until we address that midfield balance as it’s ingrained in our current crop of mids, especially under pressure.

it's a really interesting one because he's genuine quality but he's also a serious challenge for the coaches. he went in head first and he either wins it, or he's caught outnumbered and the dogs wisk it away. and because of the way he plays it's hard for guys to get in and support him.

Yes, he is an enigma. At timers he is the heart & soul of the side, but other times he restricts out ball movement. Today was not the side to restrict ball movement against, because as soon as they got set (or the opportunity to set up) they just moved the ball and took our midfield out of the game. I still maintain he would be sensational as a small fwd .

Yeah pretty much this. The running and forward pressure from last week has to be the standard, can't just pick and choose when. It's a tough caper hard running sure but if you want to be in the middle you better be running your socks off every single week.

You can break even in the midfield and still win the game but you never will win when the midfield doesn't commit, laziness could be the problem most times.

When is Fritsch going to prepare for a match by kicking 300 practice goals at training each week? No rest until he nails 300 goals.

I hope you are right, Bid red. What I saw is beveridge changed things up at halftime, resulting in a match winning  3rd quarter. Goodwin on the other hand,  had no move that countered their momentum, nor did our leaders on the ground.

Yes indeed . I too feel he is a disruption to the system that was going very well with Angus , Oliver and Petracca . I feel he would be better utilised in the forward group , of rotating through the centre . 
 

It was back to a chaotic mess today 

I've just gone onto the AFL website and  looked for the Rules. Apparently they are not there anymore, and the person i messaged said the Umpires were told to "throw them out the window".

For me There just is no trust in this side anymore, they just continue to disappoint over and over, when will it ever end? Long time before I'll have any expectation again.

Certainly the holding the ball, incorrect disposal law doesn’t exist anymore after watching today’s game. 

We were bog awful, no other way to put it. 

Perhaps hub life is a little too cosy up there in Queensland, far from the madding crowd.

We got beaten on the outside but that was always going to happen. Always. It will happen next week as well as with any team in the top 6. We lack outside width and class - it is a gaping, gaping hole and one that if we don’t fill will never let this team be as successful as it could be. It’s the final missing piece.
 

We need to go after Hunter and/or Williams with every dollar we have. Need to clear the dead weight off our list to free up cap space to find the 1 - 1.2 M required to make that happen. Otherwise we will always be a 12-6 team.
