How serious are they...?

Was that a rhetorical question ?

I thought Jones was OK against North.ย  Used it well and a couple of goal assists.

Agree, this is probably the matchย that tells the SG / FD &ย present list tale SW.

We have a somewhat out of form Pies outfit coming off a 4 day break.ย  A few very solid ins, obviously Pendles the main one.ย  We are coming in with a physical advantage off a 6 say break.ย  Big Maxy a blow but we have Pruess who was recruited for exactly this scenario.ย  No excuses imv.

Blind Freddy knowsย who we need to cover here in Pendles and Sidey.ย  Both lock down roles imv, at least in the first half.ย  ย Viney to Pendles and Harmes to Sidey with assists from Sparrow and AVB.ย  Not sure eitherย haveย the mileage ability or agility required but would rather these match ups which setsย Clarry, Gus and Traccย free to worry / tire the Pies mids going the other way.ย  Viney resting HF when not benched.

Season / finals chances pretty much on the line.ย  Can we bring a switched on fired up group of 22 who really want this one from the first bounce and leave it all on the park win / lose or draw?

We will know in about 5 hours whether SG and this list are on track or the one step forward two back scenario we have seen far too often under SG's tenure till now.

Today is very muchย about progression and the stepping up of...

The MFC list, the FD, it'sย culture / brand and the coach.

Fingers crossed.

Viney playing a tagging role will definitely help him to reduce the see ball, get ball at stoppages and will bring team mates into the game I reckon. Good post.

I hope this can stay between me and the few thousandย people who post on here.ย

Thanks to [censored] coronavirus I've started dating a new girl who is legacy Collingwood due to an ex.ย

I've nearly flipped her. My last threeย partners were in the didn't-give-a-[censored] category due to foreign origins.ย

I feel that this match is both crucial for our season and my short-term future sexual happiness.ย

Like if she displayedย a Wobbles' scarf on Tinder I would never have swiped right. I feel cheated.ย

Anyway, amusingly, she's missing a couple teeth. She also has a PhD. She's aware of the contradiction.ย

radar shows there has been quite a bit of rain in southern qld.

wind has now changed to westerly which luckily is pushing most rain w to e just north of brisbane

one small band left which should pass brissy in next 30-40 mins with just the tail of it giving maybe a light shower

after that should be fine and ground should dry quick with temps still in low 20's, wind light

Well someone has to balance the "all is lost" and "it's in the bag" posts.

When was the last time we won 3 games in a row? I just canโ€™t see us doing it today.ย

Overcast with slight drizzle here and there. Gabba has really good drainage so I would expect the ground to be in mint condition.ย
ย

I think the rain may hold off during the game.ย

Intermittent showers. Sunny. Cloudy. Showers here in Brisbane. ย
Raining again now for past hour after sunny period.ย
21c. Pleasant for footy. Not cold !!ย

Off to the game.ย

Havenโ€™t seen Melb v Collywobbles play live for a very long time.ย

Hope we play a lot better than we did against Port.ย

Would be nice to see a WIN live ย

I reckon they're taking a risk with this one...

What Q will he go down?

...or, will he start?

Ditto Polly.ย  Nothing near his heady days but pretty serviceable.ย  No doubt being asked to play a very different role on the outside now.ย  Very little contested, just get into the right spots between the arcs and execute coming inside 50 and looking for opportunities inside on the 45 where possible.

Taking much of the contested stuff out may help him with recovery, keep him a little fresher / sharper and (might) see him deliver a little more accurately by foot.

If i've learned anything with the Pies over many decades rjay they will not usually put a player on the park (H&A... not necessarily finals where the stakes are higher) unless he's very much ready to roll.

I would expect him to play and be somewhere near his best.ย  Take him lightly and he'll put us to the sword as heย so often does against most teams.

And if he is a smidgen under done?ย  Even more reason to make sure he is pushed to his physical limits with a hard lock early, at least for the first half anyway.

Fair comment Nails. Pendles is a proven top gun. You underestimate at your risk.

I will tip that at some stage of the game the frees will be 10-5 against, or worse and that Pies have at least 2 goals from soft frees.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, weโ€™ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: โ€œThen came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.โ€ Today, weโ€™re back in the same place although oneย difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, โ€œIt was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, โ€ฆโ€ย  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
