These are a few moves i'd look to make this off season:

Viney walks in FA for band 1 or 2 compensation (nets us either pick 10-14 or end of first round pick)

Sign Zac Williams in Free Agency with the cash we would've used for Viney

Trade Sparrow and Hawthorn 2nd round for Rory Laird

Trade Viney compensation pick (mid or late 1st round) for Harry Perryman, GWS 2nd

Would also look at prying away some of GWS untapped talent such as Ian Hill, Jackson Hately, Xavier O-Halloran, Jye Caldwell

In: Zac Williams, Rory Laird, Harry Perryman, GWS 2nd

Out: Jack Viney, Tom Sparrow, Hawthorn 2nd

That's terrible Viney is better than all those players must keep.

Nup.  We won't get a compensation pick if we sign a RFA ourselves.

Zac Williams is worth the shot, but can we sell us to him on a tight budget? Wish it was him instead of Tomlinson last year ?, just want more speed in the team.

I do think Laird would be worth a shot, the Hawks 2nd rounder would be enough, good chance the crows will be going full rebuild and will want picks.

If Viney goes as a RFA and we get Williams then we get no picks, they offset each other. Plus getting rid of Viney, unless he really wants to leave, is the kind of thing that hurts a club massively, like getting rid of junior mac.

My bad I didn't know this rule regarding free agency. If we were 100% sure we had convinced Williams to come to us I would still let Viney go because we have the players to cover his position, Williams adds something we don't have. I love Viney he's been massive for the club but if the move could improve our team I'd still do it, but only if we were 100% confident on Williams, i'd resign Viney if not. Laird would be nice and showed his worth tonight, I just put Sparrow in there because he'll be stuck behind Trac, Oliver, Viney, Brayshaw, Harmes for inside mid opportunity for the next 5-10 years, he's an SA boy and adelaide could use him.

Nope to all of that.  Sparrow is emerging, Viney is VC and a rock (he would have to want to walk).

We are probably going to have to reduce lists before we even get started, so we should look to keep the core and emerging talent.  Also I think you undervalue the talent that others want to hang onto.  Perryman, Williams, laird will all be big coin gets.  Be lucky to land one of.

Crows would rather have Laird assassinated than give him up for a 2nd round pick.

Viney must stay it would be a terrible loss like losing Junior back in the day. Trade Harmes it will give Sparrow and Jordon more of a chance to break into the middle. My preferred gets in the trade would be

1 - Tom Papley will work beautifully with Kossie. An added 40 goals a season would be great. I've already said how I would trade for him.

2 - Williams - Has the speed we need to play him on the wing but his asking price would be too much and I'd prefer Papley.

3 - Philips - I wonder if the Pies will take a second rounder for him?

Papley and Philips on the wing will be all we need to vy for the premiership.

id also give isaac smith a year or two if hawthorn moved him on

I'd be calling Tom Hawkins and offering him a deal/transition into coaching. it would help the development of Weideman, improve our best 22, provide another tall target and provide some on field experience/leadership especially if we as we're hoping push for a flag in the next 2-3 seasons.

I'm less worried about our lack of pace than i am about our lack of polish so i'd be looking for really good ball users who can't quite crack a game at their clubs.

I can't see us getting a big fish this year unfortunately but we may be able to find some more than handy role players to add some icing to the cake.

Tom Papley would be a really great additon if the Swans are still keen on TMAC maybe we can work out a package, but i think it's unlikely

Needs: Replacements for Nev and Hibbo. Another winger. Two more skillful flankers.

Out: Jones and Jetta to retire. KK delisted, the Wagners. Need to work out whether Bradke is going to make it. Decide also between Hore and Smith.

Necessity: Winger with pace & good skills, another Pickett-esque small forward
Possibility: Young key defender
Reality: Ollie Wines on a wing

everything comes down to how tight, or otherwise, our salary cap is, plus what list sizes are mandated in 2021

i would hope we're keen as mustard on zac williams and - more importantly - he wants to come to us; i'd go for him over papley as he shouldn't cost us anything as a free agent, plus like everyone i just assume the blues will get the deal done for papley this off-season

i am very keen on rory laird and to see what else of decent quality could be poached out of adelaide for that hawthorn second rounder - i agree that there's no way that crows will want just that if laird does elect to leave

i don't want either crouch bro and doubt the crows would be interested in brayshaw; you'd think it'd be the likes of the peptides, carlton and freo who'd be the most interested in him - if you could find a way to leverage that brayshaw effectively came to us for laird, i'd probably do that if we couldn't land williams for free; if you get him, i'd ideally like to keep brayshaw as it gets us inside mid depth

it'll be curious to see what value, if any, preuss has ahead of 2021 - only really the swans will need a starting ruckman, which he really should be, but i doubt anyone will offer much for him

i'd be very disappointed if viney left

We have replacements for Nev and Hibbo that's Lockhart and Rivers. We need another winger that can be Phillips and you forgot to mention another small forward which would be Papley.

We still lack outside polish and another pressure forward. They can be found later in the draft or hopefully with astute trades for players lacking opportunity/go home factor. I cant see us going big at a name even if we had the picks to offer.

Good point snd we don't need another ruck We already have Preuss languishing !

Jacko  also is clearly a ruck / ruck rover type of 200 games in the NicNat mould ( Relook at Tracs running goal just prior to 3:4 time and see who  was running along side in the frame and could have been involved if Trac wasn't. This from an 18 yo in his first season snd initial major game without Maxy he has the energy and footy nous to be present shows his footy brain and energy are elite) We have a fine competitor and smart handballer who is in addition to our rapidly developing on ball brigade who by this time next year if handled and mixed astutely ( see other threads about this from other D/Lers ) May  well be the best in the AFL.

A KPF or KPB to support Petty as a key and Oscar As depth and our current spine is necessary Plus a clever smart runner on the outside who uses the ball well will offer extra  support fir our hybrids in Hannan Melky and the best we have in Fritsch plus Kossie Bedford and Chandler plus a resurgent Charlie Spargo who looks stronger more skilled and resilient than the 2018 version. The benefit of pre seasons and development!!

Of course we would not say NO to any A grader or B+  who wished to join us or we persuade to play at the Dees in 2021.

Interesting time and the AFL conditions will play a very useful part.

Our  North  trade also looks amuch better trade than we could have hoped for last year or even earlier this season.

Over to JT again!

Obvious No no's

PETTY both a forward snd defender

AVB still contracted

O MAC is contracted and ANGUS is the differential player in our mid field so why delist Or move him ? (Just needs better managing of our Fab 4 with resting forward and benching ) Neither  of these 2 will be moved on, Nor should they be.

Agree with most other delisting and retirement  maybe Smith still as a forward !!

All the Wishlist is fine but Zach Williams  and Papley are the pick one a chance and the other prob not.

Some astute trading could be the order of the day. Witherndun has again back in Lions defence and won't be on the market I wouldn't think. Lockhart could easily be as good in his third year !!

Others are unproven atAFL level but at least would come cheaply. Cockatoo  not really a chance I wouldn't think from Cats.

Any Kangas or Crows gettable in the 24/27 year and about 100/150  game category?

Interesting but KP player F or B and smart running elite disposer of ball would be good through trade or draft.

If Oscar is contracted we must keep him then. I doubt we would get any trade value for him. Do we have a list of who is uncontracted?

Lockhart is 25 next year. Draft another and he'll be ready in two/three years.

Papley will cost too much. Easily a first rounder and some.
