Atkins as a free agent is the type of move we should be making. Has shown he can play high quality football with 2016-2019 playing 20+ games a year at 20+ possessions average. He is in the right age bracket and fits our need to add outside speed and carry on a wing or flank. Won’t cost us the earth.

We have plenty of well tried mature players on our list and delisting  one who will not suddenly become best 22 for one that may is exactly what FA should be for.

disagree entirely, when have you seen geelong target anyone who is out of favour or 50;50 to improve the side over the last 5-10 years same deal with hawthorn for the most part too. If we want to upgrade outside pace or any position for that matter it has to be target the top otherwise we will see no growth and stagnate as a mid table side, wasting what good players we've got. If we want a player who "may" become best 22 thats where u target the draft ie Rivers is a hit and can play that role just as well as RAtkins will in the future but maybe not as well as your Phillips, Williams, Hunter, Polec types who we've been linked to.

Replacing Hunt and ANB with Atkins who doesn't have any extra upside is silly imo but a 21yo with potential to grow thats a swap i'd be willing to accept.

this article is a beautiful reference as to what we must follow. if you play supercoach youll be farmiliar with the term guns and rookies. Same applies to actual football lists, you dont target mid tier players if you want to move forward

the only thing i think i have ever agreed with leigh montagna about is that there's a LOT of very ordinary footballers on decent coin

absolutely you should pay yr best 10 players big bikkies, but really everyone in that 11-30 range is interchangeable and should be lowballed at contract time

Rohan was traded in for pick 61. They also signed Jenkins, who no body wanted. Jack Stevens another example IMO.

jenkins doesnt play. steven is a 4 time best and fairest definitely improves ur side dramatically, dahlhaus is a premiership player and top 10 in the league for his position and role comfortably. rohan ill pay but still u cant say atkins would be a lock in our side for 22 games a season as rohan is

All of those players were 50/50 or out of favour, and that is clearly evidenced by their trade value.

Do you think they targeted them thinking they wouldn't improve their side?

I never said Atkins would be a lock in our 22. Not every player you target is meant to be a star, it's about improving your list overall, and IMO Atkins is a clear step up in what we need and is a better option that a stack of players currently on our list.

Trade:

Pruest - might get something for him still not sure why he came to us. Geelong, GWS, Sydney shoukd jump at him.

ANB - for whatever we can get, he just doesn't fit our game plan. Spargo, Kossie and Hannah are all picked ahead of him and so will Bedford be

Hunt - 3rd rounder, will get snapped up

Harmes - if he isnt in our midfield rotation then he doesn't look to fit our side.  Worth value 2nd rounder maybe.

T. Mac - behind weid and Jackson now.  Lost a bit, coukd be handy for an Ess or likes.

Target:

Polec - perfect fit for us, outside ball player, we need it on our other wing. Clearly out of North and probs for nothing, term on his contract need to be negotiated though.

Atkins - same as polec another meters gained player we need and coukd get for sweet FA, shoukd make a play

Hogan - could we?? I think we should, what a win that woukd be if we traded him in for say harmes or hunt.

T. Phillips - class player, number one target for me, coll have moved him fwd this year and given his spot on the wing away.  His name was floated last yr in trade period I recon he is very gettable. Will cost a bit more then Polec or Atkins though.

Will be a few cut with list restrictions and what not also, so key back up players will be important for coverage.

The side is still chronically short of leadership and footy IQ.  A recruit similar to what we had in Jordan Lewis or what Luke Hodge did at Brisbane is worth considering.  Is a player of this type available?

Doesn't surprise me. Worked with Teague when he was at Adelaide.

That was one of the reasons why. Wait to see what happens. I have taken an interest in Atkins career as his sister who is 10 years older played in the same under 10's and 12's at Marib. Park as my son.

I remember when I was playing a couple of years at Northen Saints, he was talked up as one of the brightest young prospects coming through? Didn't he debut as a 16 year old in the very strong Marby team back in the day? Bodie Holland, Heath Ayres.. there was some talent in that team.

What what? Fall from grace? Did I miss something, because I'm pretty sure this bloke has not been much chop since day dot.

That's actually fair, he never really dropped off from anything other than being a slightly over-hyped youngster.

This season to date wouldn't be possible without Ed Langdon. Everyone knew it was an issue and we went out and plugged it (as well as finding another pressure pocket in Pickett). Tomlinson not such a big hit though. Another winger/half-back runner the first point of order. Throw everything at Zachary Williams please. Land that and we can sit on our thumbs for the rest of trade period. Otherwise we need Bennell/Hunt/Baker to step up. Maybe look at another key forward. Beside that we're pretty good for balance.

we need heaps more speed. Kozzy Pickett got us from a very slow team to a slow team. Now we need a couple of more quick players to help in this regards.

firstly Matt rowell was a grammar school boy and hes the best player ive ever played with so go shove it

and Nibbler is not suited to Adelaide they literally just let Ratkins walk whos a year older with 30 more games. Nothing young about ANB

Bradtkes dad was a tough basketballer at  International standard. Mum a top tennis player. I would give him two more years to physically develop.

I am not convinced anyone would jump at Preuss as a first ruck although understand it is his role.

Been my thought for a long time. The 15-30 bracket would play if it was $100,000

That 10-20 bracket should be easily interchangeable too, our list is not there yet, but our supporter base genuinely believe it is.

The amount of passengers we carry each week is infuriating, after each game we have a list of 4-5 easy changes and more that seem to avoid scrutiny (Melksham)
