Tans? Surfing? It's not just Goody, I have no confidence in any of the coaches we have. 

At least we used to have Rawlings in our ranks.

I was dumbfounded to see our last two weeks of gradual improvement completely dissolve.

This was the first time I've ever found myself laughing out loud at our ineptitude. I never thought I would find this kind of performance funny but to me it was really just bizarre.

Handballing to team mates standing still over and over again.

Kicking directly to opponents so many times.

Clarries grubbas along the ground. Might be worth a run with the Storm?

Oscar watching a ball bounce 15m out directly in front and waiting for someone else to grab it.

Tmac showing the agility of a prawn trawler.

Watching packs of 4 or 5 port players running in waves with no-one in sight.

Our forwards spilling simple marks.

Those bombs into the forward line....still

Continually going up in packs together with no-one staying down.

Our kicking for goal.

If I had to sum it up, we can sometimes play alright if we're skiing downhill. Then someone puts the blow torch on us, then we just melt like butter.

It's not just skills that suffer, it seems like effort does from half of the team too.

Our president said that making finals is a set kpi for us for this year. No excuses.

It was over at quarter time and he skill level was deplorable. 
 

I can see goodys post match presser now:

Goody: I didn’t expect Port to kick, mark and tackle so well. They found all their teammates and that was an area we struggled tonight. 
We will learn from this and be better prepared next game ?

 

To me the players looked lost like they had no idea what they were meant to do and as a result they panic and miss kick or handball under pressure. 
 

Another wasted season.

So let's stop potting our first year players and put the blowtorch where it belongs: on Gawn, Oliver, Brayshaw, Viney, Harmes, Salem, Jones, TMac and Melksham. And on Goodwin, for his continued inability to stem the tide or make any permanent inroads into our failures.

it is his job to get the disparities and variable characteristics available to win

if he can't do this  get out of the wavy.

 

This is atgiably the best squad in my lifetime, they show they can play with at some times but also deliver this crap at this time

What about those who are just 'going'?  Harmes, Salem, Brayshaw... are they up to it or do they need a fresh start elsewhere, while we look at others or pocket a draft pick or two?

Do we nicely send Jones and Jetta off in to the sunset and look to the kids?

And, depending on how 2020 finishes, do we need to look very, very closely at Goodwin's job?

Who knows what next week will bring, but I'd wager that some tough decisions are coming.

I think it's safe to say we're already looking, mate.

Tom McDonald is not in AFL shape. Physically. Or mentally. He is miles off.

It's not a form thing. It's a physically not up to an elite sport thing.

He was beyond a liability tonight. On a fast deck his complete lack of mobility and speed was shocking.

Exhibit A of an alphabet of examples. His inability to get close to marking that pass in the second quarter from Salem was laughable.

Sure it was yet another rubbish kick but he would have got to it in 2018

Allll of the above had to have been apparent to goody.

As fans we trust the club to know that as we cant watch him.train or plsy VFL. I fully expected him to be in ripping nick and raring to go. Or why else pick him?

My issue is how could goody arrive at the decision to pick him ? 

We had a near full list to choose from. And we pick a player not in shape. And a third tall firward to boot.

I simply don't understand.

The worst performance of the season so far, Port got a run on and we again went into survival mode, don't win games of footy doing that   22 individuals   Goodwin has every right to be angry

Tried moving Fritsch to get some form, didn't work

Kossie unfortunately shown up in an error riddled game

Lever had a poor game

Etc etc

They  seriously need to look at centre bounce and stoppage work, too predictable

Disgusting. The lack of skill and lack of effort showed a complete disregard to the jumper and fans. 

-  Low footy IQ players across the board. e.g. 4 defenders going up for the 1 spoil, running too quick for groundballs and just overrunning it, a lack of general awareness, being very reactive etc. I feel like if I had the ball I could side step the whole team with a simple one step fake. 

- skills in general. disgustingly bad. the whole team. 

- Goodwin. Never a plan B. I knew after 5 mins we were done. Theres no passion in the man. Yet we expect him to fire up the players? Goodwin is a cure for insomnia and his assistant Richardson is the same. I hope he goes before he does anymore damage. 

- Jackson: don't smile after a loss like that. It's not the time.

- Tom McDonald: GTFO. You're too slow to play even suburban footy. Take your brother with you. Oscars efforts should be career ending. It's a joke that's he's been kept for this long. Tonight was why.  starts the game playing 5 metres off his opponent. Good one od!ot!

- Sparrow: I don't mean to rip into the young fella but with the holding the ball rule you can't just barge through and drag the ball in. Did it time and time again and shows a completely lack of awareness on how to play the modern game. 

- Umpires: you were [censored] the whole night. so many soft trees paid.

Not excusing that performance, it was horrid (for lack of a better word), but I'm not 100% ready to throw in the towel on this group. We need to take a good long hard look at where we are at right now and bounce back against Adelaide and Norf. Because if we don't come out of those 2 games with 2 wins, the alarm bells will truly be ringing.

This should have been a game where we announced ourselves as a real footy club, but instead went down without a fight. The performance was that bad, we may not even recover from that this season. But, time will tell...go the Dees

The one piece of play that stuck out to me was in the first term.  Viney got the ball at half forward.  He looked across to the other flank, saw Salem, and ignored him.  He faked kicking it there, got past his opponent... and then ignored Gawn on the lead, who had a few steps on Ladhams and would have beaten him in the air with a half decent kick.

Instead, he kicks to the square where his kick puts Trac off balance, allowing Westhoff to out mark him.  He had two clear options and didn't take them, before going to the wrong one.  It's just dumb, dumb footy.  

And who is to blame?  Is Viney being arrogant with his decisions?  Or are they instructed to hit the top of the square as often as they can?

Either way, it summed up our efforts tonight.

Pickett needs to stop giving away free kicks at the end of his chase. The fact that this has happened about half a dozen times this season is an indictment on our coaching.

We really need to recruit that psychologist that helped get to the bottom of years of failure over at Tigerland.

We played with no pressure across the entire park.  There were a few individual efforts and one good team passage of play.  They just decide after first few minutes that this was too hard?  I really would like to know why it takes an absolute roasting in the press for them to play half decent football.  Then after said good game (or 2 if we are lucky) we get content, think we are good, pats on the back all around and complacency sets in again.  Get out of this cycle Demons, get the best sports psychologist to help retrain some of the carp that seems to be inbuilt into players across our club. I think most would agree we are simply not getting enough out of a really decent list.  I doubt we even reviewed our loss vs Brisbane because it was a "decent effort".  It was actually a precursor to an even quicker side by foot in Port doing exactly the same tactics 4 days later and we actually had no answers. It was hot potato panic stations all night long! Let us win the contest and outnumber on the outside.  We win the ball, get tackled, cough ball up and they are off to the races with players running freely with no pressure.  This team is so darn frustrating, on so many levels!!!
