Weideman in for either Melksham or Vandenberg.

Smith out for O Mac (Lever and Smith should not be played in the same backline)

Perhaps Jetta for Lockhart

Bennell ??

i dunno if they'll change much considering we're going to play on a smaller ground, but...

if you're going to play vandenberg and melksham as default chf's...why not just pick a tall who can play as chf?

out: avb, melksham
in: weideman, bennell

i'd do jetta for lockhart too, but i don't think the selection committee will

How many contests did Smith lose today? The problems at the other end.

Out Vandenberg, Melksham

In Weideman, Bennell.

Gotta agree on Smith. He clearly learned his lessons from last week and played within his abilities not his ambitions.

Lockhart was not that bad and was injured. I would rather develop a young player than keep playing one who probably past it.

The weed and Sparrow in.

avb and Fritch or Melksham ouy.

In: Bennell, Jones, Jetta

Out: VB, Tomlinson, Rivers (I reckon he is great but not quite 22 yet)

When's Petty ready to go? Was starting to look like a real player before set back.

unlikely to see him for the remainder of the year

It’s scary that we have basically a full list to choose from and this is the best we can serve up. Not sure any changes will have much effect. Maybe Weid or Brown in as a forward target.

Groin injury and gone for the year. Out of contract at the end of the year and with list reductions due to COVID-19 he may be an unlucky delisting.

My priority is a semi functional attack for 2021, so either, or both, of Weideman and Jackson in for me.

VDB isn’t quite right, so only one of he and Bennell can play.

I really hope not. Felt he was a player with significant upside. That's a long time for a groin injury is it not?

Maybe not this game but we are not far off just playing the future to work out what we have got. But for the next game I think it is Weid in AVB out. Maybe OMac in down back as well but depends on matchups. I would like to see Sparrow get a run but who do you drop from the midfield and let’s face it given this years training, playing restrictions I say don’t make more than 2 changes per game. We made 12 changes in 2 games so the side struggles to know what players are going to do. I still have the feeling we have some good cattle but we are not instructed well and don’t have a great game plan.

Got to be joking. Tomlinson played Ok and was better than about 12 others. VDB yes out. I would keep changes as minimal as possible. Go for HB for VDB

He cost us 2 clear goals from holding the ball, hesitating to kick the ball clear.

I can wear all that from inexperienced players. Also I would not play Bennell on the tight SCG. He won't get the hard ball yet ( which I can understand ) but would throw him in against Freo.

He coughed it up in key parts late in the game, had the chance to redeem himself. I am possibly being too harsh but at the same time would like to see more from him as a prized inclusion.

The defence was better today, Lockhart for Jetta maybe, but Jetts was pretty poor in his 2 outings this year.

Tmac looked better today presented better. AVB could go not sure we need 2 talls at the SCG

Lockhart had 2 mistakes, but he was one of our best against West Coast, and was clearly struggling after starting well and copping an early knock. I personally think he deserves a good crack at nailing that spot down.

Give Vanders / Hannan another crack.
mFC will drop Rivers, certainty, it’s what they do - build them up then axe then.

Was good in the first qtr, coughed up a couple of goals when getting caught holding the ball. Is a great young talent and best 18 though.

I really felt for Lockhart after he got pinned late in the last quarter. Prior to his injury he was playing really well and was one of the more cleaner players on the ground.

I do hope he gets another go next week. I would continue to bank games into him and get as much experience as possible.

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didn’t just beat Gold Coast — they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #28 Will Verrall

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #29 Tom Campbell

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharp

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

Worked his way back after a slow start and a further slump in form going into the midseason but became a solid contributor for the club in the latter half of 2025. Closing in on 300 goals for the club.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
