Key forwards have a role and it's kicking goals. Sure they can play up the ground but you still expect them to drift in for one or two.

To have zero between our two key forwards is embarrassing.

I think that's more to do with how they're being used than how they are playing.  They seem to be working on a structure where the tell KPFs push up the ground and drag their KPDs away from the 50, leaving the goalscoring to the medium and small forwards.  That's why we kept seeing Fritsch stuck one-out against multiple opponents in round one.  They are going to rotate a few of the mid/forward types through that full forward spot while TMac and whoever else we play are pushing up to the wings.  I'm not a big fan of this plan, but at least it shows that they're trying something different, and maybe if there are no talls down there they'll stop trying to bomb to the square.

Yes but there are still times when a player marks outside fifty and kicks inside to a pack. That is when you expect the key forward to impact for a goal or two.

Let's face it....they're quickly becoming NQR

Great chance for those out of the 22 to put their hand up against decent opposition. Chances might be few and far between this year.

Keen to hear how Lockhart gets on, as well as Weideman obviously. Marty Hore is another who has barely rated a mention this year, not sure if he is fit or not?

I agree re Hore but he’s injured, out for a long time

He was about to be tackled 60m out - Spargo looked serious about dropping him.

Great work by the club to organise a full scale intra club. Loved the energy from the b team after kicking goals. Looks like the best lead into the Geelong game given the  circumstances.

Lets hope Geelong can get on the park come Sunday.

I'm really liking the look of young James Jordan.  A few people last season thought he was showing a bit, and right now it looks like they were right.  He's harder than you expect, a good ball-user and has that bit of poise where he manages to find time.  He could turn out to be  a very nice surprise packet.

Not concerned about Tom from very limited vision. Seemed to play as a pivot at CHF found space and distributed ball well.

I'm in the opposite Camp! Zero goals from a true CHF in a scratch match!? Nup Not up to it at present! Plenty of concern from me!

What I liked about TMac was he appeared to moving more freely leading up the ground and guess what the players actually lowered their eyes and hit him up. Been on this for a long time and if they can convert this to real games then we will be OK. TMac leading up taking marks and moving ball on quickly to the other forwards plus putting the odd goal through himself will have the opposition worried. Only short vision however he looked to be moving well.

That was what I noticed as well. At least he was presenting and making an option.

Is the game plan flawed or is it that the execution of the game plan is  flawed or maybe a bit of both?

2018 everyone said we were too much about attack, but leaked goals.  Have we over correct in that respect personal wise?  Maybe, but then we went to the draft and picked up Kosi and Jackson.

We also dominated contested ball, but lacked outside finish - hence Langdon, Tomlinson and to some extent Kosi and Bennell.

Until we win the flag, its always a work in progress.  The way I see it is that 2020 is a chance for us to get the systems, personal and ballance right going forward.

To truely develop something which stacks up, we need to be playing against real opposition, which is one of the reasons I'm so [censored] about us not playing the Bombers today.  But that said, there are probably also some advantages to in playing a game against yourself in terms of being able to teach and manipulate the game more, so I just hope we make the best of what we have been left with.

I'm generally pretty optimistic I think, or at least willing to give the team time to prove themselves before writing them off. But if TMac doesnt find some form soon we are rooted. You can talk about gameplans and plan B's all you want but if you don't have a key forward you're going nowhere.

If we kick 100 points in a real match and our tall forwards kick 0, is that "embarrassing"?

I don't care who kicks them so long as we score enough to win.

Getting Melksham back into form is equally important as TMac/Weid at any rate.

Langdon failing to give the ball back. Bennell protected area. Possibly Jetta looking upset when Spargo kicked a goal. Looks like 3 goals came from 50M penalties. I guess we should be thankful it wasn't in a real game.

You're in form for over-reactions this week, I reckon.

It was an intra-club scratch match. Frustrated players who'd trained all week and had the game pulled away from them through no fault of theirs. And your major concerns are the Bennell 50 (which was bloody iffy, and at any rate committed by a player who hasn't played at AFL level for 2.5 years) and "possibly Jetta looking upset". Seriously? You're upset that a player showed emotion?

I'll give you the Langdon one, but really, are these things we should genuinely be worried about?

Where is the leadership of the club on this? It's all well and good for Max to give a couple of words after the scratch match but I think it's time we started hearing from Bartlett/Pert more than once every 3 months.

We would’ve drafted him if we didn’t trade for May. Shame as he’s exactly what we need now. Missed opportunity in hindsight but at the time we thought a quality key defender was our biggest gap.

But then we'd still be playing OMac and/or Frost so it's understandable why they did it. Not the right move long term but they obviously thought we were close to a flag after finishing top 4. We got Jackson the year after though so hopefully it all works out....

King looks like a star though (the gold coast one)

Throw the chequebook at Cameron. I don't know who else is available but we need someone.

Are the umpires going to give Bennell special rules because he hasn't played since that rule came in? I was only highlighting Jetta because it looked like he had conceded the 50.

I don't care what type of game it is giving away 3 goals from 50's isn't good footy, hence why I was glad it wasn't the real stuff.
