Take with a grain of salt but there's a rumour doing the rounds that Petracca has been asked to stay on the Gold Coast by Gil and the execs, who counted the votes early to ensure broadcast access to the victor. All but confirming that Petracca has, at the very least, tied the thing.

Here’s a screenshot of the ‘text’ that was posted to BF that started that rumour...  my money is on a betting company is behind it.

I managed to put a very little on him about 8 weeks ago.

Only got 15 to 1   but its probably better than what he is now but not as good as the start of the season.

Come on Tracca !!

If Petracca has won the Brownlow it  would have been best if they surprised him at home. With a delayed telecast they could have got him out of bed and presented him with the Medal. with his PJ's on...  It would have been some viewing.

1968 Bob Skilton has been woken from his bed and told that he had won the Brownlow .polling 24 votes.

Perhaps I’ve missed it but surprised there hasn’t been much chat about Trac’s Brownlow chances. Hasn’t polled well historically but he just stood out this year. Wouldn’t surprise me if he is in it up to his neck

Also, have heard rumours that he has been ‘requested to stay in QLD’ for the vote. No confidence in the rumour but I’ll take any excitement I can get at the moment.

This thread is about Petracca.

This thread is about the Brownlow count, tonight

Ben Gibson is a star.

Very good Brownlow preview on the MFC website.

Can see him being poached and unleashed with a nice budget and support crew by a club with money to burn in a few years.

Sounds like bollocks. If any shred of truth to this it would be that the afl want the predicted top several or so in a room together for broadcast purposes. Very unlikely given the number of wins we had that Trac will have polled enough to tie with or better Neale.

Agree. Just passing on information

Wouldn’t read into Trac being asked to stay in QLD. Haven’t all favorites been asked to stay in/travel to QLD for the event? Got mentioned on some footy show today that Boak is flying up to QLD today.

Tipping Trac to finish 4th. Had a great season but Neale was a level above.

Put a 20 on Trac this morning at $8, he’s $7 atm.

I think Neale is a level below...

Not a match winner for me/game influencer/changer for me... Too much cheap ball and stats are a false commodity and don’t tell the real story. Commentary around his game i believe is well over blown!

Petracca would be a well deserved winner!

It’s a race for second. Neale will get the Lions votes and easily get 25-27 votes.

Petracca should attract the umpires attention like a Dusty or Dangerfield.  I hope he does get at least the 18 or 19 votes he deserves and reward him for a great year.

If we had of won 3 more games I reckon Trac would win the medal. Not enough wins to get enough 3 votes

He is great value in the market without Neale (about $3). Menegola is the other one to watch tonight - I think he’ll lead Geel and is a smoky at huge odds.

How could the umpires not be charmed by the disarming smile of a handsome young lad like Trac? Give him the 3 votes umps!!!!

Done deal. ?

Petracca should get votes again for the Pies game.  It depends on whether it’s him or Oliver with the 3 votes.

Gil mc will of course build up the tension as Trac and Oliver get votes

“ Melbourne. C ... “. (Petracca or Oliver)

It went as predicted

Love to see Trac end the year on a high with a BOG effort this weekend.  He’s had a great year.  He might match Gus with a bronze medal in the Brownlow count.

I think they have been managing his workload for the last 4 games and played him more as a forward/midfielder.

As predicted

Is Jack Steele to biggest danger to Neale?  Saints won enough games and Steele was right in the heat of the action. Clearly no other player likely to take votes off him.
I think it’s Neale, Steele, Boak and the Trac as top 4.  No surprises there!

As predicted.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
