Cute goal

early days, given hes was drafted months ago, but Comben for them is a nice lead up at the ball

Spargo has started really well. Watching him close up and he’s made some smart decisions in traffic.

Omac takes a strong pack mark. Hits a target. Rivers than turns it over and cost us a goal.

Classic turnover there.

Yep, poor kick by Rivers straight to an opponent

good, he'll learn from it.

OMac is a pretty good kick, doesnt miss many. Thats not an issue.

Spargo and Brown playing well. Melksham slotted a nice goal.

It really is a step up from VFL and although no one is going in very hard, its a good match. Havent seen Bradtke get many hitouts yet.

If we can take anything from a scratch match, and really you can't read too much into it, there are some positives.

Rivers, outside of the late turnover, has look good with ball in hand and shows composure.

Spargo did some nice things and it's good to see him hit a few targets and get to position well.

Melksham is a cut above the rest but, most pleasingly, is looking really fit.

Gus and Fritsch haven't had a major impact but will get better as the game rolls on.

Anyone know the names & numbers of the casey players?  One of them is in #17...

Thanks for the reports.

Half forward.

Is there any wind there?

Slight breeze.  Perfect conditions. Ground in top nick.

Besides the turn over, Rivers has been good as has Spargo.

memo to rivers: don't go short back into the corridor from back pocket!

Exactly what Tomlinson was saying to Lockhart after Lockhart went inboard and turned the ball over leading to North’s first goal. Interesting listening as the North player was lining up. Tomlinson basically told him there was no need to go toward the centre at all. He praised him for the nifty footwork but Tomlinson had led to the boundary and that’s where the ball should have gone.

If it comes down to a tall forward choice between Brown and Weid, then Weid will need to lift considerably

  • PREVIEW: North Melbourne

Can you believe it? After a long period of years over which Melbourne has dominated in matches against North Melbourne, the Demons are looking down the barrel at two defeats at the hands of the Kangaroos in the same season. And if that eventuates, it will come hot on the heels of an identical result against the Gold Coast Suns. How have the might fallen? There is a slight difference in that North Melbourne are not yet in the same place as Gold Coast. Like Melbourne, they are currently situated in the lower half of the ladder and though they did achieve a significant upset when the teams met earlier in the season, their subsequent form has been equally unimpressive and inconsistent.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.
