I'm meant to be heading across to attend the game but think i'll give the airport a wide berth now for a few weeks!

Airports are so empty of late that they’re probably one of the safer places to be. And once on a flight, apparently the air conditioning uses 50% air from outside and the rest is filtered through the same filters used in operating theatres. So as long as you’re not seated close to someone coughing their lungs out and sending coronavirus particles your way, then no problem!

It was fabulous

The Premier Daniel Andrews has warned more schools are likely to be closed and there may be a prospect of the cancellation of football games and other sporting events, anywhere crowds gather together. What will we do? If the games continue without the fans in attendance, are you willing to risk your health and exercise your democratic rights to go to the games regardless? Will there be an uprising? Are we willing to die for our team?? I say stuff the coronavirus. I love the boys and I want to see them this year. Just when they are looking good! Premiership 2020 with or without a crowd. Go Demons.

If the AFL lock fans out of games I won't go out of protest

One thing is for sure - there won't be anyone throwing toilet rolls to celebrate a goal.  Though if things don't turn out too bad  later in the season some people may have an embarrassing number of rolls they wish to get rid of quickly.

Pretty sure I can think of other uses for them . . .

I agree fans of certain teams should be permanently locked out, virus or not.

Agree. Personally I would rather get the virus than sit next to a Collingwood fan.

Luckily in the redlegs section we don't have opposition fans.

I wouldn't be surprised if the government ban large gatherings. We're at the same point Italy were when they banned most gatherings. Sydney is quickly becoming a hot spot.

Just want to say one thing to those saying it's nothing more than a flu. Sure, it has a mortality rate of about 3%, flu has around 1%. It's not that most people will have mild symptoms, it's that fact that our most vulnerable people have no way to combat it. The flu has killed more this year so far because everyone has it, but the sick and elderly can get vaccines to help build up their immunity to it. They can't with the coronavirus, with a vaccine could be as far away as 18 months. Think of all those people getting it and clogging up the health system. That's the problem; that's why health experts are worried and are putting extreme measures in place.

Sydney’s such a dirty place...

No more so than Melbourne.

I’m still not sure what has caused the toilet paper, tissues etc stampede.

Makes sense. The bigger the ars*hole, the more toilet paper required.

Cant help but wonder how the umpiring would change in WA sans fans.

Vivid memories of the essendon supporters spitting on the Melbourne players as they walked up the race at half time

That's disgusting. Instead of being out injured the following week, the poor players had probably caught some unspeakable disease.

You're right. Can't afford to let anyone catch the virus from having some low life spit on them. ?

That is a very good point. I have tickets to next week’s game but would rather not go and get the W

I would find it hollow and unforfilling if the Dees won the flag after a season of no crowds and a Granny in an empty stadium.

4 points is not the main reason why I follow the Dees.

Imagine how Liverpool must be feeling....

Since there's 20 or so cases in Vic at the moment I think I'd take my chances.

Everyone on here shakes their heads at the doomsday preppers, but I bet many of us have recently purchased something we didn't immediately need, out of concern that it might not be available next supermarket trip.

Yep because when the shelves are empty day after day, when you see something you just grab it.

I’m asking everyone to bring me toilet paper as wedding presents. Forget the cash people. I need toilet paper!

Not exactly true, and then there is the Hospitality boxes at the back. One was full of Woods supporters during a QB game and they had the front windows open and were giving us an earful. That was until we came back and won in the last qtr. They closed the windows.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
