But I thought we had a really exciting announcement coming?

I mean that’s what Brad Green basically said when he was giddy as a school girl at King’s introductory press conference

I know that even if things are progressing behind the scenes we can’t necessarily make any public announcements (especially if government funding is involved), but come on, at least throw us a bone

Well the President did say "we are really close and we will share more as soon as we are able to."

I guess that means that we are not allowed to announce anything yet and I assume that is because one of the stakeholders has told us not to.

Caulfield will happen and it will just need a bit more patience before it is officially announced.

It is disappointing though that the President couldn't elaborate a bit more, without making an official announcement.

I am as frustrated at that as everyone else on here.

this was exactly as predicted

no update outside of 'more updates soon'

frustrating, but better than 'it's dead, and we're back to square one'

Hmmm

Well we did get an update, we are now really close.

I agree it was disappointing.

It was unbelievable that no one asked a question about it.

It's not that we're not able to announce at the AGM. There's plenty of reasons why that might be the case.

It's that Guerra buttered us up to be ready to hear all about it tonight at the AGM.

He's trying very hard to impress, Guerra, but I don't want him overpromising and underdelivering, which unfortunately he's done in this instance.

Exact words "...we continue to work closely with key stakeholders and (our Vice-President) is leading the project for the Board and has learnt a lot along the way about politics. .... it is a top priority for us .... we are not in a position to announce anything publicly tonight .... but we are really close...than we have ever been..... we know it is important for our players, our staff and our members.....we will share more as soon as we are able to...."

So disappointing...

Beginning to see an "overpromising" pattern with Guerra, unfortunately.

Build a bridge, can’t you just move on?

Promise much deliver zero 😅

And people wonder why many supporters question the quality and make up of the board

Worst run club in the comp by far in my view only made worse by mates in the room

I think the words about our Vice President learning to deal with Politics says a lot about the slowness of the process.

We have been very patient and a bit more patience is needed and to me even the fact we are discounting Waverley for a short term fix, points to not wasting money and effort, when we are close to getting Caulfield for the long term.

Is the silence now deafening on Caulfield because we just don't have the dough and have no hope of obtaining it? $24.4m in net assets seems light

I think his critique is warranted HH.

The club is seemingly thumping its chest trying to let all and sundry know, yet delivering very little.

Too much false bravado atm

Especially when most of those assets are in a "Future Fund" that is NOT to be spent on training & Admin facilities.

The Club was never going to come out initially and say that Petracca and Oliver wouldn't be at the club, but common sense long pointed to both players being moved on. Contextually, no reasonable person would take this types of claim seriously. Sure it may be a form of puffery, a 'smokescreen' if you will, but to the common punter this is hardly deceptive or overpromising; it's potentially an exaggerated opinion in the face of impending trades but that's merely a convention in the AFL landscape.

I'm not adverse to criticising the board and I think there have been severe and ongoing failures, but this specific line of reasoning is just childish.

We’ll continue to remain uncompetitive until we find a suitable home base like Caulfield. It’s not lost on me that we won a premiership during covid when all advantages were removed on the road. As soon as normal programming resumed, we bundled out in straight sets and [censored] the bed into free fall.

That is complete BS. The Covid year you talk about was not played in a hub, all games were still played at their respective grounds just with no crowds. The only difference was the finals series.

Does this not show that we have a poor mix of skills on the board if probably our most important issue (apart from the on ground performance) is being handled by a novice.

Vice Prez is a political novice and CEO is a football novice. We need better attributes for the board.

I don't really care about anything said in the lead up to trade period. We are trying to get good deals done. It worked with Petracca but not Oliver (it was never going to).

Teasing an announcement at the AGM re: Caufield and not delivering is a pretty [censored] result though.

I always thought "25" was an odd number. Then when Oliver was traded for nothing it became clear that Oliver might well have been in King's 25... but was number 24 or 25.

Probably/possibly, but we had Kate Roffey on the Board for years, who was the Political guru and Pert who wasn't a football novice and no Training base and how did they both end their time at the MFC?

I think the old adage of "you can always do better" applies and that our Board could be improved, but I actually couldn't name 5 Board members today, so I leave it to others who know more about the Directors to comment on the Board.

and it doesn't help when members sue the club costing the club money, hey george!!!!

Do we put any substance into the reason why we have brought Brian Cook in to help mentor Guerra..?
