I am not too fussed if the Melbourne Demon's Home Base is moved to a better location within the Caulfield Racing Course precinct. If it means more room for us then that's a good thing.

My biggest concern is raising the $100 million or so that we need to get the Home Base actually built!

I'm sure the govoverspend erahas ended

Think it would have been nice if the president emailed members to update them of the change in plan, rather than us read speculation in the media.

Green has been pretty email happy all year, but silent on this.

i hope he is out finding or organising a specialist goal kicking goal instead of enjoying the bye week like the players

But do we have a Telemachus among us?

we will probably get bitten by the family dog. Agro (sic) mutt.

TBH I prefer the new location, as others have said it is closer to (my) home. Not sure where the go to coffee shop is. The ones in Glen Huntly rd are ok (faint praise that).

The new site is larger and easier to access. The original site would be surrounded by Mt Scopus which I imag

The Workshop cafe in Glen Huntly does a decent shakshuka and coffee IIRC

paul roos on the abc afl daily podcast said the facilities that a club has doesn't actually make a huge difference in terms of the team's preparation or ability to attract / retain players

he compared the elite single facility that the swans have with the shared / far-flung mfc ones, and said he was 'pleasantly surprised' how good our facilities were, albeit shared and spread over such significant distances from the city to casey

He can't be serious. Their taxpayer funded HQ only opened a couple of years ago, complete with an altitude training room with 45 wattbikes.

There is nothing at Casey or AAMI that gets close to it. Has he seen both club facilities recently?

She had to wait 20 years!

It's a tough one. We've got plenty who are good with butcher's knives but arrows?

I'd probably just give the bow to someone like Langford.

Note the very last line of the article advises that Gary Pert is no longer a consultant on this project....

Good riddance. Both him and Roffey were brought on for their facilities ‘expertise’, yet both have gone and we’re no closer to a solution.

Remind me again what either actually did at the club, apart from riding the coattails of their respective predecessors?

If that's the case and the Government has tightend the purse strings, then we will need to do another Fund-raising campaign.

The rank-and-file members can only contribute so much. However, the wealthier Melbourne supporters like Chris Barlow (who is a Board member) and others should hopefully be able to contribute significantly.

I think raising $100 million dollars is achievable. But it's certainly tough!

This will be incoming CEO David Guerra's ultimate challenge. Get the Demon's Home Base finally built!

It sounds like from the age article we haven’t even raised enough $$ to start the conversation

As per Niall’s series of articles in Ninefax about the monied movers and shakers, our supporter base does not put their money where their support lays; the rich don’t stay so by giving their money away

Not always so. Look what Pratt did at Carlton. I’m sure there’s many more examples.

The Mrs doesnt like their coffee.

I go to the Servery, opposite the station for 2 reasons. 1. Coffee and service are good and you can get away from the take away traffic and 2. if they see me going elsewhere they would probably beat me with a stick.

purgatory, we know it well

You're not going to get anyone much anteing up any $$$ until there's actually something to show ..I.e. firm plans and costs.

So far all just pie in the sky glossy pictures.

Just sayin'

He said what he said. Maybe because he was a footy coach and not training the Soudal Quick-step team to challenge Tadej Pogacar on the Col du Galibier…

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
