The ovals are in the southern half of the infield, they don’t look like spectator venues.

Hopefully they provide some cambering so there’s potential for small crowds for things like intraclubs but it doesn’t seem like it’s designed for aflw.

    Kates letter has fired me up to the extent that I have Voted for the incumbents, I say bring it on. Caulfield isn’t close to Doreen but it’s a hell of a lot closer than Casey. This is about the Club having a legitimate home with Elite facilities in our life time or at least our children’s and I am all for that.

    it may have shifted slightly since 2015, but as a stonnington resident, the whole of glen iris, malvern, toorak was decked out in dees colours in 2021

    good on you for believing anything in the Sun. I think that was probably right in 2015 but i would hope we have moved on since then . I note  a recent flag which may have increased our appeal. 

    I am always surprised that Collingwood supporters live every where I go not just a block away from Victoria Park. Although when i worked in Collingwood I heard Peter Moore in the Collingwood barbers talking about he could only come in when they won coz if they lost the Collingwood heartland would spit on him.

    I dont see that happening in the respectable eastern suburbs surrounding Caulfield, maybe we can whip up that passion in Port and spread the enthusiasm to a new audience (80,000 in FB)

    Thanks for posting, my photos never work. 

    2 ovals and 2 soccer fields would be great for our teams to find ‘fresh ground’.

    Precinct 6 seems to be the one for our facilities from reading it. Long, skinny site. Might end up landlocked but hopefully not. Unobstructed views to the North/East.

    Precinct 5 is the interesting one. A few trees to navigate but not impacted by the race course at all. I suspect the council will want that one for basketball and other indoor sports. But we can get facilities to share without footing the entire bill for it.

    yeah whatever mate. Thats ridiculous. Caulfield is a way better option for players, fans with cars, people who go by train, cyclists. Pretty much everything. No brainer

    a study based on membership details released to them by the clubs? yeah, i'd believe it

    Main factor in all this, is what is available.

    Clearly the whole concept is attainable at Caulfield, whereas it probably isn’t at Port Melbourne.

    I am pretty sure while fans convenience might be a minor factor, it is only a minor one and the main one is what is actually available and attainable.

    We therefore don’t need to waste time convincing everyone, that more Dees fans live near Caulfield than Port Melbourne, even though it’s a no brainer.

    I can’t wait to stand next to you, while you are doing your training reports from the fantastic new MFC training base at the Racecourse and then sharing a coffee with you nearby.

    Noted that Tigers must be regional given their numbers and yet small representation on this image.

    Its interesting that clubs seem to be strong around their originating suburban base.

    Changing behaviour and population shift are considerable. Success seems to lead to membership. Dogs, Cats, HAwks Tigers and Pies all strong 

    Note that Sydney have toe hold on Melbourne port, probably due to its South Melb origins. Maybe 80,000 at Fishermans Bend represents a new population which could be attracted to Melbourne.

    I'd be coming from the northeastern suburbs. It would take me 15 minutes longer to drive to Caulfield Racecourse than it does to get to Gosch's Paddock. Distance wise it is less than 5k further! Let's go with the plan!

    Serious question. Given the labour skills shortage, property developers and builders filing for bankruptcy left, right and centre and a state government that is financially committed to digging tunnels all over the city and suburbs. Even the airport rail has been suspended .Exactly what year do you envisage these 80 000 people moving in to Fisherman’s Bend????? Fisherman’s Bend would be so far down the pecking order of priorities it’s not funny. Caulfield is feasible, doable and could happen reasonably quickly as it’s in the scheme of things not a massive project in comparison to constructing a suburb as is your angle. 
     I genuinely couldn’t care less where the project is location wise. I just want my club to have its own elite training facility as soon as possible.

     Has anyone considered that as soon as the club can conduct training in private they will. Just look at current training at Casey. They can lock people out so they do. Easy access to Caulfield  probably means you will get a few dates a year. I go to training 2 to 3 times a year. Won't go to Caulfield because it is "too" far. However it will be great for the players and that is what counts.

    It’s Crown land that’s administered by a trust formed by the department of environment. They lock people out on race days and when horse training occurred on track the public was banned before 9:30, but I’d be very surprised if the public aren’t allowed in. The walking and cycling tracks are key components to the redevelopment.

      There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

      I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.
