Lots of ways to raise that $30m though. Naming rights donations from wealthy supporters is an obvious one.

Sponsors doing a one off increase in their sponsorship contribution.

A one off raffle say with an inside the Coaching Box experience or whatever could raise a lot.

Sale of memorabilia is another.

Prematch at home games at the ‘G we help coterie by selling raffle tickets for them. It never ceases to amaze me how much money we collect in the space of 20-30 minutes. It’s astounding. Most folks don’t even ask what the prizes are, they buy a heap of tickets regardless.

It’s nothing for someone to pull out a wad and peel off a hunge or even two. Who has that kind of walking-around money?!! They do and they are very generous when it comes to helping raise money.

You need a wad on hand at coterie lunch. 100 here 500 there. Money in envelopes for table envelopes. They had to stop doing the reverse raffle about 10 years ago apparentlythat type of raffle became illegal ( back then was $1000 per table - 50% went winning table and the rest to the club. The last 3 tables were able to discuss options and make their own rules - ie 1st 2nd 3rd, or all to the winner or whatever you can negotiate... was always the highlight of the day!)

Get Excited everyone.

I walked the area today and it is massive.

Not sure exactly where our part will be.

I have sent some photos of the area and surrounds to Demonland and he might post some of them later.

The area for the ovals is right across from our area.

I saw the second tunnel that has been referred to, which goes from the area under the track to the ovals area.

The transport will be sensational, with the train station right across the road and bus and tram nearby.

Hopefully the Official announcement is not far off now.

We should end up with the best facilities of any club and that should help recruiting.

I am getting excited.

I live across the road from the racecourse, and it's quote hard to see where the land will be split between the club and the school

If I'm to understand correctly.. the areas where the School bought..... and the club will lease are all but diametrically opposite and there's no bordering .

Can others better versed comment and/or clarify ?

For the last time please, the school bought freehold land off the race club, on the West side of the complex.

Our mooted area is Crown land, subject to lease from the Trust, on the North East side of the complex.

There is no splitting of the land between the school and us, they are completely different areas of the complex and the racecourse grandstands are in the area between the two school and MFC areas. They will have nothing to do with each other.

Sorry, red can you clarify - will the school's footy teams use our ovals to train and play on?

Love that For the last time....

Anyway the MFC brick and mortar facilities will be built on what iis currently known as the Guineas Car Park, 20 Normanby Rd. When exiting Caulfield Station towards the race course look to your left. This car park is currently leased by the MRC. Whether we lease this land directly from the MRC or they renegotiate their lease and we deal directly with the Trust I do not know.

Let me handle this one Red.

Not on race days and not at the same time, though there will be 2 ovals. The bigger question is where is the school going to play cricket??

(My current understanding is that the Trust will own and maintain the sporting facilities in the middle of the race course and the MFC will have excluive rights to those facilities for xx hours per week).

They are also building a community hub that includes sports field for the local Jewish football side AJAX to use (Sheezel's junior club)

Thanks FAT.

Was actually just winding Red up - hence the emoji.

The very close proximity to Caulfield station is huge i reckon.

Even though the other side is not very far away from the station it's far enough for some who might be umming and ahhing about popping into training (or going to the dees store to buy some merch etc), perhaps on the way to or from work or school, to decide not to bother.

Being able to get off the train (perhaps to change lines) and be in Dees HQ in 90 seconds means more people will visit on a whim.

I'm on the Altona train line and the city bound trains are stopping all stations to Frankston meaning door to door i will be able to get to our training base by PT in an hour - quicker than would be the case if i was driving.

Combined with a punt at one of the best pub tabs in Victoria (right on the track), or even a mid-week meet at Caulfield, and i am in sports heaven.

Surely the MFC could offer some sort of membership partnered with the likes of Ciaron Maher or Mick Price where we get a stake in a horse? 😋

You'd really wanna own one of our old geldings? 😂

Thanks Redleg, DannyZ, RDB, Fritta and Turner, Binman and all posters this is so damn exciting, been feeling pretty confident based on comments from R & D and now can’t wait for the Announcement by MFC.❤️💙😁👍

That's a good point about the visuals - a big fuzzer MFC sign on the admin and indoor training building will be seen by 100s of thousands of commuters a year.

Not so sure that the AJAX Football Club have definitely been included in any plans although there have been consultations with Jewish community sporting groups generally due to their profile in the region (Harry Sheezel's junior team manager :))

This might be a bit of a request but would you be able to highlight our area on a map perchance please?

It does beg a question... I wonder just how prevalent our branding will be allowed ?

Will be interesting to see how it all unfolds

The areas numbered are area looked at first 13, then second 11 and now we will be in area 2. Note the tunnel at 7.

Ovals in 6 and maybe 4.

just a minor point, jack. I think the tunnel marked 7 is the mrc tunnel (finishing post to mrc stand) and the guineas tunnel to the carpark area which we would use is not shown but further east of mrc tunnel and adjacent to guineas car park (our area)

Redleg can you clarify if there is going to be a designated track watchers area with appropriate facilities?

Roffey explained at the AGM I think the year before last that Caulfield had only come up as a proposition at that time. The MRC hadn't contemplated it being available before then. Possibly because they have a debt problem they have had to solve.

Both could be true. MRC have a debt problem and Roffey was big noting herself as that was the entire reason she was brought onto the board - to solve the home base issue. But if what @bluey says is correct, it was always an option, just not the preferred one.

@Redleg is it your understanding that the area would include the rectangle carpark and lawn on the north/west side? basically the area under the (2)?? The lawn area currently has marques set up for spring? I wouldn't think the skinny carpark on the corner on its own would be enough space. ie Ess indoor training area is approx 80m x 40m which wouldnt fit???

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
