Does anyone actually believe this will come to fruition? I'm firmly in the "I'll believe it when I see it" camp.

Is Pert still collecting a paycheck?

Starting to think it's all an adventure in bs.

Pert still gets a cheque ??

I’ve always been in the I’ll believe it when I see it camp. The business case was due now and I see that’s changed to end of year. Not happy Jan!

so the only reason we hired this new bloke is cause he worked high up in the racing industry, if this goes [censored] over t this hire will be a waste of time. well done mfc. these rich a holes are complaining about a dog track in the middle of no where??? why would they let us build a whole facility with two ovals in an empty paddock

I still like the idea of location and potential.

That said how au fair are we really with the facts , as a club let alone us members.

Seems we're looking more and more like dumb [censored] bunnies tbh. Embarrassing. And some ppl still getting paid ;)

What people can't walk there dogs around the block anymore? now there is a mandate for specific dog walking areas in every community.

pffffttt.

Incredible, really is.

Call me naiv’e , stubborn, loyal or what you like, Our Great FC is on the verge of securing an Elite Training and Administration centre within a 10km radius of the CBD that will meet our needs for our foreseeable future. The fact that they have identified a more suitable location for our administration centre on the Caulfield site reassures me that this exercise is on track and until our club advises us all that this is no longer the case, I wait in full anticipation of a successful announcement and I shall not revisit this site until this occurs.😁👍

I'm guessing these posts a couple of years ago are the area that is now been discussed. Looks easier to get to, walkable from Glen Huntley station

I always assumed it was going to be in that S.E. Corner actually, lol. Better location and also easy access for 67 tram and recently redeveloped Glen Huntly Station. None of this impacts of the training ovals inside the racecourse mind you.

We are not a serious club

It's terribly sad to realise this.

We simply don't get it do we.

The Age 01/04/2029

Latest word emanating from the MFC suggests planning is well advanced pending Council approval. The City of Monash, despite some reports of protests from some councilors, has announced work is progressing on plans to reinvent the old Clayton Tip into a state of the art sporting facility. The football club acknowledges past disappointments and false starts but insists the new location is perfect suited to the club's needs. A spokesman for the club insists all rumours to the contrary are pure rubbish. We're tipping this will be their new home.

Round the corner from my joint and across the road from the hawks… we be forging a new football heartland … pioneers some might say.

You don't say!

Whilst I’m in the believe it when I see it camp I’m not feeling the need to take continual pot shots at the club until we get confirmation one way or the other.

Confirmation, indeed any real information is not a forte of the MFC

Does this mean another feasibility study incoming?

More patience required. At this point I don't care as long as the ground we get has goalposts that make us kick goals.

I am not too fussed if the Melbourne Demon's Home Base is moved to a better location within the Caulfield Racing Course precinct. If it means more room for us then that's a good thing.

My biggest concern is raising the $100 million or so that we need to get the Home Base actually built!

Think it would have been nice if the president emailed members to update them of the change in plan, rather than us read speculation in the media.

Green has been pretty email happy all year, but silent on this.

TBH I prefer the new location, as others have said it is closer to (my) home. Not sure where the go to coffee shop is. The ones in Glen Huntly rd are ok (faint praise that).

The new site is larger and easier to access. The original site would be surrounded by Mt Scopus which I imagine building works will be going on for the next 10 years.

The voyage of Ulysees had less twists and turns.

Hopefully Penelope recognises us when we finally reach home.

But do we have a Telemachus among us?

paul roos on the abc afl daily podcast said the facilities that a club has doesn't actually make a huge difference in terms of the team's preparation or ability to attract / retain players

he compared the elite single facility that the swans have with the shared / far-flung mfc ones, and said he was 'pleasantly surprised' how good our facilities were, albeit shared and spread over such significant distances from the city to casey

I'm sure the govoverspend erahas ended

Nothing in it for politicians

Free money no more

i hope he is out finding or organising a specialist goal kicking goal instead of enjoying the bye week like the players

The Workshop cafe in Glen Huntly does a decent shakshuka and coffee IIRC

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
