Poor Hore, how you tear a quad muscle while in the gym?! Crap luck.

Not ideal about Petty, but this year is a right off anyway, so hopefully the surgery can fix the issue for the long term.

Not even sure it would be as high as 105.

Most of those games are probably Kolo!

We are struggling with every best 22 player available,  not a good look!

Agree. I was thinking this probably our strongest line up.  No excuses. The performance against the Cats was very disappointing.

The Herald Sun is reporting that Tom McDonald has been cleared of serious damage to his injured eye and could be back on field against Hawthorn on Sunday after he was taken to hospital as a precaution and found to have a scratched eyeball. The eye area remains quite bruised and closed over and will be monitored by club medical staff during the week. McDonald will be on light duties for the next few days, but the Demons hope he can return to training later in the week and is a chance to play against the Hawks at Giants’ Stadium.

Tom's eye will be fine provided he didn't watch the Sydney-Richmond game.

I've actually had my eyeball given a good scratch once when a freak'n lunatic magpie lark (pee-wee) decided my face was it's enemy.  Didn't feel much, went ahead to attend a uni lecture, but started noticing people were giving me funny looks.  Went to wash it out in the bathrooms and after one double-take glance in the mirror I sprinted down the the medical centre where they jumped me right ahead of the queue - basically I had an outer eye completely layered with blood, deep pure red everywhere that should be white, and bulging. I shouldn't say sprinted - I actually moved with haste but not so much exertion because I honestly was worried my eyeball would burst if my pulse lifted.

Strangely, it never affected my vision, I didn't feel much pain, and was completely fine in a couple of days.  I had to get a bunch of booster shots on account of the rabid pee-wee - I don't know if the same applies to Gold Coast players.

While McDonald isn’t currently experiencing any major issues, his condition will be monitored in the lead up to Round 7 and a call will be made on his fitness later in the week.

Tmcd should be fine to play. Scratch (corneal abrasion) heals in about 3 days. It’s very painful and first 24 hours is a lot of weeping of the eye and sensitivity to light (needed the patch).

I’ve had a scratched cornea and it is excruciating

I can’t imagine playing footy a week after copping it; super painful

Looking through each clubs injury list we are in the unusual position of being one of the best placed clubs.  most teams are missing around 4 quality best 22 players.

The Covid-Cup will be ours!

Same. Very unpleasant injury. I was surprised at how long it took them to patch it up for him, he was sitting on the bench for ages with nothing but his jacket hood covering up the eye. Taping the bugger shut is the only way to get any relief.

It is true the bloke that got TMac in the eye actually dislocated his finger while doing so?   It was mentioned on some show earlier in week, but I was only half listening.

    HIGHLIGHTS/LOWLIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne traveled across the continent to take on the Fremantle Dockers in sweltering conditions at Mandurah south of Perth in a game that delivered the club both its highlight and its lowlight in the first minute.  But first, let’s start by doing away with the usual cliches used in connection with the game. It was just a practice match and the result didn’t matter. Bad kicking is bad football. The game was played in severe heat, the swirly breeze played havoc with both teams resulting in

A couple of Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you their observations from today's training session before the Demons head off to Perth for their final Practice Match. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Beautiful morning, not much wind, more than a couple of dozen spectators.  The players were up and about, boisterous and having fun. One of their last drills were three teams competing in a hard at it, handball game in a small area. Goody

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
