No, expect next week, same with Tomlinson

Would love to see Gus on the track early looking hungry. Has he been training at elite facilities overseas like some of the others saty?

So did Robbie Flower.

Thanks for the training reports Sayy and the pictures, much appreciated. Someone asked if Jordan had bulked up but I am more interested in Sparrow. In know Burgess said last week that bulk isn't ideal for our game now perhaps he meant they need power and speed without the bulk. Back to Sparrow, last season one of the many commentators was asked, who of our crop of draftees would play senior games for MFC. Without hesitation he said Tom Sparrow who he thought was a steal. He likened him at the same stage to Dangerfield which of course is easy to say and Tom's year was cruelled by a knee injury. I would keep a close watch on this one as the pre season develops.

Seemed to go on a 'war' tour visiting historic sites, think he is one that, as somebody else has said, would benefit from the mental break, he would still be doing what is required

Interesting that Nate Jones hasn't appeared also

316 years old. Never out of shape. Weight of leadership taken away from him. No rush for his old rig. Needs to be selfish for a year to get the max out of himself

Robbie Flower also had the Coke bottle bottom glasses too. Not the first  impression of a great footballer.

Sheeeeit with the mo he looks a lot like Freddie Mercury!!

Our half-back line is going to look like an 80s porn film. I'll refrain from making any fisting jokes.

Anyone prepared to take a guess at what's in the front of Fritsch's shorts in that photo with Dunkley? Ice?

I’d say white tape.

Angle of photo + six-pack makes it look 3D.

I am more concerned with Fritta and the impact pre season is having on him, he had a full head of hair yesterday

Methinks he failed something in the games the boys play and the hair is the penalty

I was going to mention the 'porn star ' moustache on Lever but now someone else has done it.

Lever's got legs on him like a racing greyhound .

Adds about 15 years to his age. I thought he was one of the coaches at first.

Good to see Viney running around at this time of year, Sparrow is looking the goods and Hibbo is looking in terrific shape.

Very early stages but some encouraging signs no doubt, compared to last year.

The players are looking in great shape. Obviously sticking to the program has helped and getting an early start. Sparrow is shaping up to be a powerful unit.

Will Sparrow play on Swallow in 2020?

I'm having some difficulty getting my head around the idea of a "powerful sparrow".  Somehow, those words just don't seem to belong together...!

What about a fidgety fit Fritsch

I watched Sparrow drilling kicking skills with Crossy last year in the rehab.  He was keeping up with Cross in the precision factors.

I thought he had very good skills.

Now, there is a cross sparrow.

Is Tom Sparrow exclusively an inside mid?

Trying to workout how he gets  into the team if we have most of our first choice mids available

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
