Never thought that we one games at training if you go by training as match standard then we are in real trouble.

It has nothing to do with winning games at training, it is information for those supporters who cannot attend training to have some insight on how the team is tracking.

Yes I’ve got no doubt they can have a jog on their holidays. You make an excellent point.

The point I was making was that the senior players who made it to training this week (eg- Gawn and Harmes) are players that are getting the absolute best of themselves, creating excellent examples to their teammates and are carving out fulfilled careers thus far.

Meanwhile a couple of those top 10 draft picks that haven’t seen fit to make an early appearance for whatever reason (and I concede they have no obligation to) haven’t gone  anywhere near reaching the levels they could as footballers and are nowhere near in the best 50 players in the league.

If you're talking about Salem and Petracca I think you're being extremely harsh.

Both boys self funded a high rigorous training camp in the US with exposure to professional NFL clubs and world class gym facilities. They did this on the back of Josh Dunkley and Marcus Bontempelli last year doing the exact same thing and Dunkley especially being on record this year to benefiting him for his break out year.

If they are not oblige as you say to be there, but are going the extra mile in terms of training preparation and also training with world class athletes then what's the issue?

I swear some people want to find an excuse to sink the boots at any cost. Players can't win these days.

Some one is going to wake up this morning a little sheepish with a decent hangover....

I know AFL players don’t make the same kind of $$ as NBA, NFL or even ice hockey players but it is well established that a lot of these players have there own out of season training groups/mentors at there own cost with the aim to come back in even better condition/having enhanced/developed a new skill and are better than the season before. Good on a couple of our guys looking to do the same.

I wasn’t privy to this information as I don’t live on social media.

Well done to both lads. Let’s see if it translates on-field

Maybe next time you have no idea what’s happening behind the curtains, you might consider that before criticising?

Speaking of Viney, was watching a few of our highlights from 2016 and he was banging through classy goals from 50, and looked fantastic. Something he hasn’t done recently. Also pulled off a 39 touch 3 Brownlow vote performance in that breakthrough win over Hawthorn.

If he can get back to that kind of form, imagine what that could do to our midfield. Hopefully his prolonged injury issues means the best isn’t behind him?

Fair call, absolutely.

I just thought the below post by LH rang true to me with regards to the usual suspects leading the way in the right behaviours on the training track and on game day. Then yes, I got a little carried away with criticism of a couple of players that clearly upset other posters.

However, I’m not backing away from the fact that the likes of Salem and Petrcca haven’t lived up to expectations yet in their careers, but I suppose that’s not the point here.

Yep, after last year's off-season a statement needs to be made by the players.  No better way to do so than show intent by coming back early, fit and ready to go.

Should have said nothing than, based on that.

All you've done is assumed with no idea at all

Par for course by so many who just like to see the negative in our players

Both were fantastic last year. We were terrible as a club, but if we won the flag and those two had the exact same years as they did the comment would be completely different. It's easy to slap the individual players because we terrible, but those two were far from the problem

No they weren’t in my opinion.

Salem was very good until about round 15. Then whether it was injury or form, he struggled in the last 6 or so weeks.

Petracca had the best year of his career, after a slow start. Was it fantastic? No. Was it a good year? Yes.

Gawn and Oliver were the only players to have fantastic years.

How do you know they are on holidays overseas? Did they all send you their itineraries for the off season. I assume from your comments Burgess has CC you all their individual program's as well.

I would be very disappointed if any of the players came back and were not ready to go this year and to steal Chookrat's mantra "I'll believe it when I see it".

I am interested to see what "condition" Langdon and Tomlinson turn up in. Anybody seen anything of these two yet?

As Tomlinson played in the GF I assume he is not due back for weeks

I'll know you have eaten it when I view other threads through the season.

And my post isn't just direct towards you

Now if only Viney could Mark, Kick, have a football brain and sprint we could have a good footballer on our hands.....

Your team will probably try to snare him during 2020

I think it's safe to conclude that all the players who haven't come back to training early are the druggies who turned off their ASADA monitors and are now officially missing.

I'm not too worried, though. Like all addicts, they'll come scurrying back to the club when they need money to pay for their next hit !

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
