The club have interviewed this kid, who is meant to be an amazing prospect, but I have mixed feelings about us taking a ruckman with a top 10 pick.

Anyone know more about him?

K"Greater Western Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle are among the clubs who have been linked to Jackson with top-10 picks and are glad the 18-year-old decided last year to give away a promising basketball career to focus on his football."

What I found interesting is it says GWS have been linked to him with a top ten pick. This must mean they still think they are a chance to draft him before Green

I saw all the televised u18 carnival games and he looksย a VERY special talent. The Brodie Grundy comparison is spot on. Far from a lumbering type he offers more versatility than the typical ruck prodigy. I certainly wouldn't be adverse to selecting him with pick 8. Best available theory.

Does he strike you as the type that could play as a key forward also?

It might mean they think nobody will bid on Green before pick 6ย

He could be the 3rd tall and help in the ruck whilst developing.ย  Obviously as a tall he won't peak for a while but I'd be confident he won't take as long as most talls to have significant impact.

This may be why we didnt chase Jenkins? ย If we really think he is a good forward ruck prospect and available at 8, then best available at 3, him at 8, would be a great reason why we moved up this year.

Iโ€™m not opposed to the idea.

Gawn took 5 years to show anything.

I love Gawny, but how will he be holding up in 5 years time?

Definitely seems a good idea if we believe he can be a capable forward option for a few years. Still would have liked some mature KPF support as we're pretty stuck if TMac goes down again, but should we add Jackson and some "x-factor" types over the draft/rookie draft/PSD and delisted free agency period then it feels like a much better mix than last year.

if we take 3 picks inside the top 10 then i would look at him, but i get the feeling Freo will want our pick 3 for him. so we get 7,8&10.ย

7, 8 & 10 would be the ideal draft hand, hope your right

Will believe this Freo swap of picks, when I hear it suggested from a second source, other than one solo Demonland member

You do whatever makes you happy Dees247. i dont blame you.

Jackson looks like exactly what we need. Very athletic and no reason he couldn't play as a forward especially against teams like Collingwood who have very tall back options. I'd rather pick him with pick 3 than an undersized forward who's going to take 2-3 years to develop their body to be competitive.ย

Would be a big call trading a future pick (that could be very high)ย and 2 other picks to pick a ruckman who - all things going to plan - won't play meaningful ruck minutes any time soon. Then might end up too short to be a starter anyway, or at least be somewhat limited by height.

Tim English is a super talent and he's just starting to impact some games now in year 3 at age 22 and still has games where he gets smashed.

I certainly see the talent though. Interesting.

But it would probably mean missing the 2 boys many of us want in Young and Kemp.

Memories of the Kelly deal start flooding back.

Have heard this might be the case , strong hand in an even top 10 is a pretty good result.ย

Surely this is a joke?

Only the clinically insane would waste aย top 10 pick on another 'untried' Jack the giant when we already have two running around and one is A grade.

Pert needs to step in immediately and have a word to Goody & theย FD if this is genuinely on the cards.

Will go down as yet another mega MFC blunder if we overlook Young, Stephens, Kemp and/or Pickett in favour of a third lumbering giant.

He can be another inside contested beast. Goodwin canโ€™t get enough of those.

Jackson would be a pick for the future, but would also be able to make an impact now. Think Stynes/White combo, the generation would be Gawn/Jackson. I love the prospect

He's a super talent. imagine being an 18 year old ruckman, coming in and learning off Max gawn and then taking over the mantle.ย

more than happy to grab him at pick 8.

At 198cm he is somewhat undersized as a ruckman (though Brodie Grundy is only 5cm taller).

I'd hope his agility and athleticism would help him get around the ground. Lots of possibilities with our picks.

ย

Would have a good ring to it to draft โ€œYoung & Jacksonโ€ I must admit

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasnโ€™t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's ย six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his teamโ€™s unfulfilled potential rang true โ€ฆ well, almost.ย
