I don't know how the Saints will get all these players, Hill for 6  is easy but then Howard, Jones, Ryder and Butler maybe, when their next pick is 59.

I suppose the picks for Bruce and Steven could get Jones and Howard and Ryder could be 59 and Butler could be a 2020 pick, so I guess I answered my own question.

If they get all these players and then Ben King next year, they will be very dangerous.

Carlton will also be a big improver if they add Papley, Martin and Betts/Butler, with their host of talented youngsters.

I hit the 'like' button, but I don't like it at all.

I agree, however.

Gubby has gone all out attack

I doubt they will get all 5 players on the books, something will break

They're going very aggressive which may bite them. Think they are still a fair way off and would be better served to continue topping up and focus on Ben King next season. Still pick up a few through trade but 5  when you have little to give

How are they going to get all this done?

They need to get on with the Bruce and Steven deals for starters. They’ve bitten off far more than they can chew I reckon.

Exactly. It's not just the ones they need to bring in by dealing with multiple clubs they have to unload a few to other clubs too.

It's going to be a busy few days for them.

It’s not really the Josh Mahoney style (months of legwork is usually involved in our trades), but I’d be wondering what pick 26 or the next year second rounder we got from Hawthorn might shake loose. With all that still to do, you’d think they’d be interested. You would also think they’ll be tight on list space with 2 players being traded out and 5 in.

They've delisted or retired 4 already Including 2 ruckman hence the need for Ryder.

ST KILDA

Who has left: David Armitage (retired), Billy Longer (delisted), Lewis Pierce (delisted), Sam Rowe (delisted)

This reeks of desperation from Ratten. He knows this is his last gig at it. Get it right or he's gone.

No, this has Gubby all over it...

He's been brought in to shake up the list and he's doing it.

Whether it's successful or not time will tell.

Absolutely. Good luck to him because they have been directionless for a while.. And Ben King's Dad Brook is a massive Saints fan. I would think  they're in the box seat to get him next year.

Gubby without a shadow of a doubt.

He would have been onto GWS in the background with Freo playing hardball (stupidball?), waiting with an itchy trigger finger, so he can prove he doesn’t bluff.

It’s all about Gubby for Gubby, doesn’t care which players get burnt in the process of stroking his ego.

Next time around he gets to look like a master negotiator because he’s used St Kilda to establish a reputation that he doesn’t bluff, with little care for how it impacts St Kilda.

Maybe there’s something in it? Short term pain, but long term gain? I prefer the Mahoney method.

Gubby is going to have produce what would be the crowning achievement upon his oeuvre, to satisfy the Suns with the pocket fluff he has at his disposal.

The Saints have to play hard ball re: Hill because they can’t give up 2 first round picks (even though they’ve shot themselves in the foot with their contract offer). They’re going to need the 2020 first round and 2021 first round pick to get King from the Suns next year. They can’t keep Bruce this year because they can’t offer him more than 1 year because King will be taking his position in 2021.

They haven't landed any yet Red - and Im not sure they'll get any the way the trade period is working out.

It's all good and well to chase players but to land them is a completely different thing. I know we all love the media hype and the rumours are fun but chasing contracted players is extremely risky (Just look at the Swans)

As much as he's copped a lot of flak (not attacking your Red just some generally commentary) Mahoney and Co have done well at landing players. The "price" aspect i think is overrated because you don't know what your going to get and how long it's going to take to develop draft picks

I am looking forward to seeing what we do with Pick 3. Would love 2 top 10 picks or a later top 10 and a ready to go player, but that might be wishful thinking more than reality

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
