we don't generally leak this much either so i wouldn't be at all surprised if we went totally differently to what's been mocked.

We don't leak at all these days, so maybe it is journos looking at our needs and making assumptions?

I think it will be other recruiters talking. As has been said a few times, recruiters generally won't talk about their plans but are happy to talk about other clubs plans.

How close to the truth they are, who knows?

It's never clubs telling the journos who they are going to take. It's managers and other clubs telling journos who they think another club will pick based on their contact with the players. Every club would be asking each player they talk to which other clubs they have been talking to.

The only thing we really know is Jason Taylor has said.

the three players we rate high enough for pick 3 are Luke Jackson, Hayden Young and Tom Green

He said we wouldn't trade pick 8 unless we were 100% sure we'd get our guy at pick 10

so the conclusion i make is either we were never interested in Hayden Young from the start an he wasn't telling the truth

or

we are supremely confident he will get through to 10

No one would have us taking Jackson at 3, not one journo or draft expert had Jackson anywhere near top 3.

I wouldn't take much notice of Buckenara.  Great player, but a lightweight who now can't get a gig within the industry.

In fact, he's recently been sacked by both the North Ballarat Roosters and the Frankston Dolphins.  Hardly a glowing endorsement.

Doerre's latest take although they are saying his 'final' update will be out tomorrow so might not be much new here...Green gets a glowing review.  Likens Young to a Paddy Ryder style ruckman.

Check out Schoenburg also...one of the more under-rated mids imho from the u18s.  Ranked 27th in this guide only a month ago, now into 15th.  Guy is all class and a beautiful mover away from congestion...very quick thinker & slick with the disposal...

This is no longer correct. 2-3 years ago we didn't leak, I couldn't get anything at all from contacts at the club! This year past 12 months or so are different and there's definitely leaks now. I can now get decent info from contacts at the club.

100% correct. He's a muppet who says outlandish things to try and get into the media. Just look at his list ratings for a bloody good laugh. Apparently the Wagners are better than Viney and Lever ?

I can't wait for this draft period to be done so we can stop with all this rubbish and get on with reloading for 2020 after such a pathetic showing this year!

I actually agree with Clint here LT. We have not leaked anything of substance for a couple of years now. Gotta be honest, it kinda pisses me off that we dont because i would love to hear some developments on our home base.

If you are being told things, and they are not making the forums, then i have a brickbat for your source and a bouquet for you.

I think that is more a stab at which players are likely to go where given needs and jungle drums PSD.

Giving GWS a second stab at a top 5 player is a crime and for mere insurance we must bid on Green.  If we get him even better.  He is easily top 3 material from what i witnessed after giving the u18 replays a fair shake.

Another thing i'd add is the Giants are crying out for a small forward. so if they do get  a bonus top 5 pick that might well be something they look at. Serong is probably one they could take who could make a quick impact as a forward.

While I support Taylor, I have this gnawing feeling, that Pickett could be another Dion Johnstone, while Kemp becomes a Fyfe/Cripps/Dangerfield type.

If Kemp is what he is described as I would take him and look for a small forward with our last pick.

A strong, tall, quick mid, is far more value imo, than a small forward and harder to come by.

I don't think this really applies come draft time - mock drafts in the media are generally pretty spot on a week out from the draft (especially for the first round). Clubs might still be weighing up certain picks, but if all the phantom drafts have us taking Pickett, at worst it means we are strongly considering him.

If we believe all the Young @ 3 chatter and the True Footy phantom, by giving up 8 we have effectively handed Freo an extra free hit probably giving them Young, Stephens & Henry.

What a haul of outside finish / talent and three of the best ball users in this draft.  Huge win for them.

Interesting that he thinks a bid for Green won't come until our second pick.

Edit: No Sharp in the top 30 and states Rivers is a chance to slide to our pick. Would be very happy with either of those two.

Cal Twomey's 2019 Phantom Draft: Top 30, your club's whispers -

http://m.afl.com.au/news/2019-11-25/cal-twomeys-2019-phantom-draft-top-30-your-clubs-whispers

I’d be disgusted with the club if it panned out that way.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
