Totally agree. An upgrade is well overdue. I see moving to Casey Fields as very much a “buy cheap, buy twice” scenario though.

Yeah, look I'm not keen on it personally, I just it as a viable solution. In saying that, it would only be if (as mentioned above) it was developed into an actual stadium with legitimate elite facilities, with a big financial backing from state government and local council.

Interesting as I see the move to Gosch's as being exactly what you describe. In ten years the big teams will all have dedicated super facilities. What is a super facility...indoor training facility, two ovals one being MCG size the other convertible to match all other ovals, pools and gyms etc etc.

Collingwood are on the lookout to move and Richmond cannot be far behind. Carlton is an interesting one as they have the Princes Park reserve but talk about resident issues !!!

Sure. Let’s not do it again then!

Correct.  Hawthorn are moving to Dingley because they know what will be needed in 10 years not 1 or 2.  Essendon have set the standard.  Aircraft hanger sized indoor facilities.  Swimming pools.  2 AFL sized ovals.

Other posters have forgotten that a stand alone VFL side needs a ground to PLAY on as well.  No point having a VFL side if they have to play at Punt road/Collingwood/Victoria Park, while training at AAMI....simply pointless.

The other point made many years ago that is the advantage of Casey/Box Hill type arrangements is the human infrastructure.  Trainers, goal attendants, scorers, massagers, time-keepers, property stewards, door-keepers are all essentially volunteers.  Run your own show, then you have to pay people to do it.

Can you see us investing in and moving that far away from the G though George?  What would the 12,000ish MCC members say?

Wasn't saying they were all comparable from a geographic point of view. Just saying that those teams don't train in their actual suburbs, let alone near the CBD or the MCG.

As I said though, my opinion is players would rather drive 40 minutes than 10 if it means they get actual elite facilities. Just my opinion though, haven't done a survey or anything. ;)

Plus, being a professional organization who wins games would be more deisrable than just a great location, otherwise GWS and GC's situations would be reversed.

Casey is at least 4 hours drive from Gotches paddock. Similar travel time to Geelong.

Did not work for  the saints at frankston,  they have state of the art facilities down there but have  abandoned those facilities to go back to Moorabbin stating that the drive was the Factor no one wanted to drive down there no matter how good they were.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    POSTGAME: Rd 09 vs Carlton

The Demons were blown out of the water in the first quarter and clawed their way back into the contest but it was a case of too little too late as they lost another close one to Carlton losing by 1 point at the MCG.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 09 vs Carlton

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again headlining another blockbuster at the MCG to kick off the round of footy. The Dees take on the Blues and have the opportunity to win their third game on the trot to solidify a spot in the Top 4 in addition to handing the Blues their third consecutive defeat to bundle them out of the Top 8.
