Me too. It's going to be so sweet when we finally win.

Yep. We played VFL Standard in 2019

and some people still don’t see it

They looked great didn't they?

A great mix of excellent senior players mixed with youth and speed. Hope they win it now that Brisbane are out of it.

Things change quickly in football. It was only a few years ago that they cleaned out all assistant coaches and gave Hardwick one more chance.

To be honest, this season really got to me. I usually watch the Demon game 3 times throughout the week and at least 3 other games of footy per week.

My love of the game has finally waivered this year and if we have another terrible year next year I will likely give up following the game.

I watched 1 game a week this year. Sometimes it wasn't even our game. The membership isn't going to be automatically renewed for the first time in my adult life.

What’s even worse is my brother never buys a membership & said if tigers win another flag he will back off watching afl!

Im the idiot 20+ year member!?

The good news you don't have to wait long for a sixth.

And there are idiots on this site that actually believe we have good salary cap & list management.

If you want an example of outstanding salary cap (TPP) management, take a look at Richmond. We’d be lucky to have 2 A Graders whereas Tigers would have about 10.

Prob more like 6-8 ... the reality is teams win flags not players.. it’s all about the game plan & disciplines.. Brereton has stated many average premiership players.

Same here.

Image result for woo hoo gif

So goodwindees who are these ten Tiger A-graders?

Dusty, Jack R, Rance, Cotchin, Edwards and (Deledio) used to be their recognised big 6.  So 5 more.  Definitely would include Lynch, Houli and Grimes (now AA).   Last 2 are a toss up, maybe Prestia and Vlaustuin.   Tiges also have a strong seconds team.

I guess you are including Max and Clarry for us and then a huge gap to our Bs and Cs etc.  So who are our B-graders getting all the money ???  Lever, May...

Add me as well?

To think we could have been the best team in VFL/AFL history, 50s would have been amazing to watch.

Richmond - fast and tough.  Relied on the draft from 2007 and topped up with Lynch as icing on the cake.

Melbourne - our smalls aren’t lightening nor tough (breaking a tackle or placing robust pressure).  Looking for quick fixes (Lever, May, Elliott etc) at the expense of drafting 10 year players.  We seriously don’t know whether to rebuild or re-plumb.   Goody and the club have been hit between the eyes.  The recruitment of speed and/or tough smalls has been a complete failure.

Superimposed on this is the hubris of this club in thinking they can recruit the slowest player in the comp in Lewis, and dispense with our quickest in Frost; because we needed leadership and wanted to reduce turnovers.  Utter idiotic madness.  The only entertainment this club offers is a parody of how to build a football team.  This is the latest version, but probably the best.

Tigers recruited from other clubs Lynch,Prestia etc but further developed them, agree with but unfair on lever, may showed if he’s body is right he can play, question is will he get his fitness right

I was lucky enough that my ability to understand footy crystallised in the mid 60s just after 64. The team from mid 65 through 69 was as bad as anything in the following decades. Finishes were 7th; second last; 7th; 8th; last. Think yourself lucky you missed this embarrassment.

With our record, if we were an animal being put down, it'd be via Halal slaughter.

During '67 we were being talked about as a final four side until a late slump. Ditto'71, ditto '76, '84 until Essendon smashed us at VFL PARK. Some minor glory after that but afl is now basically a premier league and Frost to Hawks is a travesty. Take up a hobby, it's never too late.

I watched the merge documentary on Bears and Lions. As bad as it is for the Dees we at least have our own footy club to follow. Watching the Roy’s supporters seeing their club become extinct was pretty sad. Is it better to follow a basket case of a club or no club. I keep reminding myself of that when we lose.

76 stick in the throat we were on a serious role. More heartbreak.

Me too. Pretty sad hey. I went to 2000 GF which was a disappointing day. It would be great the day we actually make a GF being favourite. Unfortunately none of my kids want to follow Melbourne.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

It’s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle – perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?
