Jack Watts would be laughing at the MFC & thanking his lucky stars that he left.

Could never understand why we got rid of him especially when the year before he won 2 games off his own boot & is considered one of the best kicks in the game......something that our current list of players cant do....

Staggering.....

Yeah, because Port have been sensational since he arrived.

I shouldn't be responding, should I?

Yep

Plenty of other better duds to choose from if you really want a dud. No from me. This is definite trolling here.

JW's B&F finishes from 2018. What a gun.  The answer to our prayers.

And after he finished 5th and gave the speech where he said 'I'm usually sitting down there [censored], I need to do better' he came back out of shape and was promptly dropped for the JLT games.

Football fraud.

Ha you haven't thought hard about this comment have you.

This is the same Jack Watts that came out  publicly last year and said he was hurt knowing the Dees were playing finals last year.

He's played 2 games this year and his own club yet AGAIN have missed out on finals.

Yeah he would be laughing alright ... ?‍♂️ only thing that's laughable is your post??

ha ha

JW has gone to a club that actually cares about him.....JW has gone to a club that has won 6 more games than us this year......

JW has gone to a club that isn't a basket case & he's gone to a club that isn't the laughing stock of the AFL.

Sure he has made some lifelong friends at the MFC & friends he would still associate with, but really......you reckon he misses us.....Pft

Stop pretending like we are some sort of destination club.

I think he's Olisik's younger brother.

Stop pretending like we are some sort of destination club.

Please point this out where in any form have I remotely mentioned that we are a destination club?

Our club cares a lot about Jack the footballer but Jack the person. But when you are 27 years old and 150 games of experience and still getting a serve to work hard and put in then that says to me a lack of dedication from Jack.

He's goes to Port Adelaide a year after and this so called club that cares about him also drops him due to poor form. Funny that?

You're embarrassing yourself. Good for [censored] and giggles, but I'd stop ahead if I was you.

Ordinary footballer who was as soft as butter. Good luck though. That's where it stops.

NO, he is another player that has an injury just like Elliot. One day in some future century we might consider drafting an uninjured player or recruit. This same player may even be able to handball and kick with some degree accuracy.

Say what you want about Watts, but we currently have two key forwards on our list, neither of whom have played since round 16.

In the past three post seasons Goodwin has presided over the departures of Watts, Hogan, Pedersen, T.Smith and Keilty and has brought in the grand sum of zero tall forwards. Our forward line was a complete shambles this year.

At some point we are going to need to recruit some key forwards who are ready to play. They don't grow on trees, so I'd like to see a list of better options that could be available if we ask the right questions.

Not sure about the laughing but agree with the second paragraph.

He'd be cheap and, if the penny has dropped (for him), he could be a valuable MFC forward asset.

Definitely worth a discussion.

I don't know if you're trolling or not Ron, but I'd be thrilled if he came back to us.  He is strong everywhere that we are weak.  His kicking is as good as any in the league and most importantly he was the number one player in the league for retaining possession with inside 50 passes.  He would love playing off HB as the spare tall/intercept marker alongside Lever and May.  It's his best position and we saw this year how well he plays it.

As for his contested work.  He went 1-3 against Weed, TMac and The Bull in a marking contest and absolutely destroyed them.  He's not a contested beast, but he does ok.

Sadly, in my view, this will never happen.  From what Ihave seen from Goodwin, he is almost incapable of acknowledging an error of any sort when it comes to his judgement or his coaching ability.  Even an experienced, successful, confident, proven, successful senior coach would have difficulty coping with an admission of poor judgement and poor leadership re the JW departure.  Gooowin is currently none of these.  Let's hope he us capable of learning a lesson.

a no from me

we need to move forward not backward , even though this year we went backward ...

If we are in the business of bringing people back then forget Watts and get me Steph Martin back!

Yes from me. Fit, fast and can kick

The fact Melbournefc couldn't get the best out of him is an indictment on our ability to develop and direct talented, albeit easily distracted, young men

Rubbish

Happy memories for me from that match. Was the last time I had a sense of smugness at a Dees vs Pies game.

Must have watched this reply 1000 times mainly to annoy my husband.

Sigh ....

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
