I was thinking about this on the weekend.  The Cats have some very talented players being kept out of the senior side this year.  The first one I thought of was Buzza, who isn't necessarily that great, but there are plenty more.

Nakia Cockatoo isn' t getting senior games.

Narkle is being kept out by Ablett and Dahlhaus.  Jamaine Jones as well.

Any other likely looking players we might be able to poach?

Cockatoo is far too injury prone, he’s only been available for selection once in Geelong’s past 61 games. He also signed a one year extension last week.

Geelong is a tough side to pick anyone from given their list demographic. Their list is built mostly of aging stars who we don't want, recent trade ins who wouldn't leave and young talent they'd never give up.

Narkle would bring some excitement and likely be a walk up start for us. But no idea how likely we'd be to get him.

Other than that your looking at other VFL talent which I'm not all that aware of.

Raid the cattery............for who?

Ablett is on his last legs, Taylor Selwood Hawkins & Dangerfield are getting long in the tooth, Kelly is off to WA. That only leaves Tuohy as one who i'd go after. They are their core and it falls away dramatically after that.

Everyone else are just tiny bit player's. The Cats' quality is real quality, but they are starting to get rather old, not much young quality talent coming through down there (aside from Kelly).

Narkle has my vote

You have my vote RM.  Would happily free up any of ANB, Jeffy (age & disinterested), Spargo, Stretch, O-Mac, Weid and Jwag if it meant fitting him in.

Kid can play and has a bit of X factor about him also.

I’m sure I will have a lot of posters shoot me down here...

I rate Rhys Stanley as a tap ruckman and hard to match up forward. Great athletism!

He has touched up both Max and Brodie and it amazes me Geelong dont persist with him on field. I think he is a player with X factor and can be the player that makes the difference in a big final!

29 in December. I think he has a couple or three good years in him.

I would recruit him to play as a forward if we could get him for a later pick.

He's a player without a real position.

A failed forward made ruck who the Cats don't trust in the role.

In a team crying out for assistance for Hawkins, you don't think the Cat's would use him forward if they thought he might be any good there...

I don't think anyones going to be raiding the Cattery.

Once they lose Kelly they're going to tighten up big time. With him leaving they're going to go super hard at Stevens and Higgins to fill that midfield role.

Narkle won't be going anywhere with his potential especially with Ablett retirement on the horizon.

The players worth getting from the cattery are pretty much untouchables.

Dont see the fringe players on their list having anything over our fringe players.

I think it will be the catttery who raid teams like us in the near future. Their list is built to win now and not in the seasons to come.

Best we lock up and extend our own top tier talent before we throw money at their players.

Wylie Buzza just got delisted. He could be our Tim Smith somewhat ok key forward depth option.

Yeh, swap the bro’s Wagner, Sparky and the hard running Preuss for Dangerfeld, should be some picks coming our way as well.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
